Tired of dealer tire change prices
« on: December 04, 2011, 01:23:24 PM »
The last time I stopped by the local dealer, I asked the price of changing the tires on the Busa if I took the wheels off and brought them in.  The answer $60 per wheel!!!  Several questions later and I realized that the counter man was not joking.  The prices were $30 per wheel if I bought the tires from them and $60 per wheel if I brought tires in, (this was taking the wheels in off the bike, not taking the whole bike in)!  I know people need to make money but this is insane....

So.....

It works great and is easier on rims than the power changer at the dealer. :thumb:

It's made right here in the U.S.A. :thumb:

I got the cruiser ultimate package, so I got a lot of extra tools to make it easier.

Good choice.  I have the retro fit version for a coats 220.  $60 per wheel is fucking robbery. The No-Mar stuff is nice. Bead breaker is way better, keeps the wheel of the floor and you don't have to bend over. No dings or scratches.  Plus you don't put lube in the bead like every dork shop does, so there is less chance of the tire spinning on the bead.  They used a standard style changer, saw what sucked and made it the way it should be.

I have had a Coates 220 for 20 years. No Mar makes a retro fit kit??

A Marc Parnes balencer would complement your No-Mar nicely, works a whole heep better then a buble balencer and very simple.

I use the old school bubble balancer you see in the pic for car tires.

The kit I got came with the balancer in the link below. :thumb:

I wish that was what the local bike shop charged, 3 years ago they charged $20 per wheel if you brought in your own tires and wheels.  But now $60  :bah:

The tire vendors at the track will mount and balance your tires for free when you buy your tires (you bring them your wheels).

I got the same one. It works great.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it than to need it and not have it

there was a local motorcycle/atv used dealer kinda shop... he stopped doing service work.
he charged $30 to change and balance a tire if you bring in the wheel.
one of my local riders went to the suzuki dealership (45min away)... $75 per tire if you bring a tire and wheel.
$50 if you take a wheel and buy the tire from them.

this just seems way to high for me especially when they probably have the lowest paid kid there changing you stuff.
they scratched my friends gsxr1000 front wheel but they said the damage was previously there which we know for a fact, was not there.

we do them for 15 if its the wheel only, and 30 if its the whole bike. doesnt matter where the tire came from.

but then again were not charging 95 an hour either.

That was also a big reason for me getting this changing setup.

My first and last dealer tire change happened in '06 $100 labor. The NoMar is cadillac. I got the cheapo from harbor freight for $100 back in '06. Have saved thousands of dollars  :bike:
