I may be wrong, but I think HP determines top speed and torque determines how quickly you get to it.

For your weight definitely torque gonna help.....      both are important for good timeslip....

You can gain  torque multiple ways...........pistons kit gonna give you the biggest increase and increase in compression too, velocity porting can give you some....cam timing.......and more other ''small things''.........

A modified Gen II can go to 200hp to 230-240   torque 110-125lbs depending of the tune-pistons and cams selections   and after that expect high $$$$$$$$$ and reliability goes down........

Torque and horsepower are inseparable- it is a simple function of arithmatic:  Horsepower = Torque x rpm / 5252.

For this reason, whenever torque goes up, horsepower goes up also, and whenever horsepower goes up, torque goes up as well.

What is it that you're trying to ask?  :)

Like Kirk said they are the two sides of the same coin. What you want for ANY racing is horsepower. A high torque engine is a diesel truck. Not what you would call the quickest things around. But, to build HP you have to build torque. We just casually call it HP all the time. Then there is torque/HP under the curve of your dyno print out. This can tell you where to shift. Lots of cool stuff but just follow the mod road to happiness. All the normal mods are tried and proven. Good Luck!

...and roll-ons are a type of deodorant.

Learn to launch and become a drag racer.

Go to the Texas Mile and learn how to go fast.

Go to a riding school to learn both of the above AND how to stop and turn, and become a track day rider or maybe even a road racer.

...but please don't buy a Hayabusa without learning how to ride and then go around asking us questions about deodorant.

Lives in North Carolina, speaks "hip-hop", can't spell, and attends bike nights.  Red flag #1.

Asks questions about extended swingarms and rides a lowered bike on the street with one front brake removed but doesn't drag race.  Red flag #2.

Rides a Hayabusa and asks us questions about deodorants.  Red flag # 3.

Blacked-out windscreen.  Red flag # 4.

Hmm...maybe we would be able to help this guy out better by backing up a bit and starting out with the basics:  :bike:

Dave, there's nothing wrong with living in North Carolina.  It is the TOTALITY of the clues that sends red flag #1.

You can speak proper English and you spell okay, so you don't even make it to red flag #1.  :tu:
