change one of the 8 cell to the 12 cell.then use the 12 cell as the battery nearest to the starter.

Sorry to hear that you had problems with the 8 cell. Have you contacted KWS about your experience?

As I understand it the 8 cell is only suggested for 1000cc and below.

I've used the 12 & 16 cell Ballistic batteries on our Hayabusa powered sports cars with great success. We now carry these for our customers as I strongly believe that they are a good product and KWS are a good supplier.

PM me if you want to try the larger size at a discounted price.

busa750,
it's not clear to me what the pix show, could you please explain?

I'm running 2 x 16 cells in my 1635, and love em, but if there is something to watch out for, i'd sure like to know about it.
thanks,
Karl

Holy crap....I think that woudl crank over a locomotive!  Of course, you do have 1500psi cranking compression on that thing...
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.
4.82, 158.67mph 1/8th mile 7.350, 200.32mph 1/4 mile Riding

4.392, 176.79mph 1/8th mile  6.610, 228.15mph 1/4 mile Tuning

Yep, it cranks over pretty well even at 385psi cold cranking pressure :hys:

But i did 16+16 on purpose to avoid isssues when temps get real low.

At maxton in Oct it was 31F on Sun am.
A friend of mine had a ballistic battery which was "correctly sized" for his bike (6 or 8 cell?).
He had problems starting, i had none whatsoever.
In my mind, the difference in weight between 8 & 16 cell is minimal, size isn't really an issue either.

Obviously cost of the 16 is a lot more, but at this point worrying about a couple hundred more bucks on that bike isn't gonna happen.

Thanks but no thanks on the battery after 3 brand new battery's and know about 3 other people having trouble I will never buy a ballistic anything I went to a antigravity battery much better product.Chip from ballistic said he would exchange one on good faith he did not say anything about 2 ecu that got burnt up and nothing about all of the labor and countless parts i change out to see what was cause the ecus to burn up

In the pics the one brass pieces is soldered to the battery cell.. the other brass piece is mounted to the black top part of battery.. when u put the top of the battery on it slides over the other brass piece thats soldered to the cells.. the spring goes in between the two pieces.. thats where the connection is that little spring.. its more like a shock than a battery..
