Anybody raced El Mirage?
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:49:13 AM »
From their site it appears as though you have to be a club member to race there. Do you guys know if it can be a one weekend event where I could make the required licensing runs AND FULL SPEED RUNS?

You can run once as a guest. Only the first and last meets are two days. You would be lucky to get fully licensed and make a WFO pass in a two day meet.

First day is definiely rookie runs and licencing, not sure if the second of a 2 day meet would let you run flat out .

If the wind comes up early it can stop a meet, no wind slows the meet as your waiting for the dust to clear
the course chopps up with use and can limit your traction ,
Grid positions are determined by your passed performance, if your done in the rookie line you will be last in line

May be twice as a guest , need to check that out, as it would allow you to run at a one day for rookie then a later meet to realy try it out .
The whole day rookie thing only started in 2010, before that it was a single pass below 150 i think , then your SCTA/BNI licence limit

You would get more precise answers at Landracing.com
Due to distance i don't get to ElMirage near as often as i would like

Sounds like little chance of a full speed pass. Too far to go to be a spectator.

Like Greg said, Elmo is club based(car club) You must be a club member to set a record and start position is based on your points standing--the first runs always get the best traction. Track can go away quickly.
And remember this is DIRT, traction is iffy at best. Dirtbike experience really helps.
And after running Mojave,Elmo's not looking as good.
