ZX14 bearings in busa motor
« on: February 10, 2012, 07:45:04 PM »
About to send the crank to Marine for stuff....

I hear people have been using the 14 bearings.
Is this main, rod or both?

Anything need to be done to the case or crank to use these?

Any probs using the 14 bearings for high HP turbos or am I wasting my time?

Thanks

I am pretty sure it is a slightly wider rod bearing and doesn't just drop in.

What are you getting done to the crank at Marine?
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

you have to get your crank machined to except the zx14 rod bearing, this idea is that the zx bearing is wider and spreads the load out more on the wider surface..  if your not getting a billet crank i'm not so sure it can be done to a weld up..but maybe..also plan on using rods made for the zx 14 journal size..

Thanks guys....I should of known it wasnt that easy. Keeping stock stroke so it looks like its more trouble then its worth.....

Balance, nitride, polish, flute, straighten. Keeping the gear, want the weight on the crank even though I am not running the balancer.

BobC sells a 1635  billet crank designed for 14 shells (Marine, his spec)...
Better yet, get his 1635 kit complete, build yr motor.
It's awesome.
I measure everything, and his kit ROCKS, everything fits, hp on top of the heap.
Ain't cheap, but this sport ain't cheap if you wanna be top of the apex...
Often wrong, but never unsure!!!!!
