Tire choices ?
« on: May 22, 2012, 03:38:34 AM »
Whats a good tire  for a 68 in,  200hp  Busa  on a thin and not prepped  track ?    I know the Shinko is cheaper ,  but I'll pay tha difference not to worry about it  spinning  .  Thanks !

What's a power1?

Do they run a lower MPH like the old M/Ts used too?
I want ET AND MPH.

Has anyone ever tried a car tire?  Its straight line racing so the cornering aspects of the tire don't have to be considered.  Just a thought...BTW, does anyone use rim locks?

Back in the olden days when I raced I used rim locks to prevent that.

Ive had great results on a shinko hook up. mid 1.3s are my best so far. mount the tire dry to prevent turning the rim in the tire

how did that power one worked out? is it good for drag racing? I've allways used shinko, but wears too fast. Looking to try something new with good traction, and at the same time usable on the street.

Power Ones are great. And low 7 second pro street bikes use them so yes, they're good for drag racing.

Know this is an old thread BUT we are looking for a new rear for our turbo drag bike. Our best time is 8.39@180 currently running a hook up and having rim slipping issues but we found at 22-24psi it only spins a half inch per pass and does not lose pressure. i have a power used power one here that we were going to try but we were wondering if a 003 u soft would do any better.

Yes the tire was mounted dry and we sanded all of the coating off the bead so it would have a better grip surface

Power has a power 3 out, just came out 2 months ago, I bought new(Bridgestone) BT 20S for my 1397, after I seen the New power 3 at the shop I was like dam, They look so stickier on the rack/lack glue. I think powers are the best tire out there
