There was a thread, a couple of years ago, with instructions. I had them but they went away when that computer died. :td:

there is 3 or 4 links. they all say the same thing. i took apart an old ignition switch today. then you see its pretty simple. black with white tracer is attatched to a 100 ohm resistor, connect the orange with yellow tracer to the other end of resistor. connect orange and red together(ignition) with a toggle, and brown and gray can be toggled together for headlights.

Yup :thumb:

The ECU is looking for the resistor as sort of a simple antitheft. It can be put inline pretty much anywhere from the orange / yellow to ground.
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

I don't know if that is really what it was put in there for. I could never think of another reason though, so I've always gone with it.  8) :bike:

with a toggle, and brown and gray can be toggled together for headlights.

So can i splice this and use a toggle to shut the lights off? Do i need a toggle only or use with a relay? I know its against the law etc.... Reason is my stator is week, so any less strain on it while at idle will help the battery keep charged. Or maybe a ground wire somewhere is better to toggle. This is on a 99

you will have 2 toggles. one for on/off and one for lights, leave the lights toggle in the off position if ya want.
