What should I use? 99, or 03 fueling systems?
« on: January 27, 2013, 12:11:38 PM »
Team,
I'm  at a decision point and would like guidance!

My bike started life as a 99...
I'm reassembling my bike for Mojave and Bub's with a 03 engine using my good stuff: 1397, Ward head, Web .415/.395...
I have been running my 99 throttle bodies with the external fuel pump and 99 tank without issues for many years.
I have a complete 03 I'm pulling parts from, and have 03 throttle bodies and 03 tank with internal fuel pump.
Which throttle bodies and fueling system offers better or more consistent performance ?
I have complete systems with throttle bodies, pump, and gas tank for both systems and can go either way.

The only issue I'm aware of is by ditching the 09 system I will eliminate the pain in the ass when removing the tank of draining the tank because the 99 has the fuel feed and fuel return lines.

What is the expert opinion?

Thanks,
Daveeed

I would use and upgrade the 03 housing make the pump a hi volume or your gonna be out of fuel right to start with and have to pull apart if you don't melt something first. send your injectors out and have cleaned, balanced and new filters and orings done. use the 03 tb's...

I recently did the upgrade on mine, since the fuel lines were leaking.

I bought a tank, pump, line, and fuel rail.  Used my 2000 TB's.  No issues at all
