« on: April 13, 2013, 05:25:13 PM »
I got a 2000 busa! I have changed the rotor, stator, wiring harness, ECU and hand controls with 02-07stuff! bike runs good! when I turn the switch on the right turn signal stays on and the headlight doesn't work and when I turn the left turn signal on the headlight flashes! If somebody i will to help me figure this out i will send you 100.00! I need to get this bike going! I got a 99-00 wiring diagram and a 01 diagram but this shit is all Greek to me!

You have the wrong  bar switch. Either the left or right.  I can't remember which one.  I think it was the left..pretty sure you need the control either with or without the pass ..   I did one awhile back that was acting like this a d found it was the hand control left side .

Post a picture of your connector(s) for your hand controls showing all of the wire colors.

All you really had to do was swap the rotor and the ECU and repin a few connections in the ECU plug if you wanted to use an 02-07 ecu, swapping the whole harness was not necessary.

well, the owner before me hacked the harness up pretty good! I thought I was doing a good thing by getting a newer harness!

Swapping out the left handle bar control will fix it.  Trust me I had the same issue. A guy replaced the harness for some reason and not the controls and it did the same thing.  I tried pulling pins out but then something else didn't work.  It's the yellow connector on left side.  Or may be black. And has a looped wire on it

The post I linked to noted that it was an issue with the right side, not the left.
I'm so confused! what connector is he talking about repin o/r to o? I can't find a orange wire with red tracer!

The pins will come out of the connector body by using  a small flat screwdriver and lifting the retaining clip and gently pulling the wire.

Your rt control should have two looped wires in it. One is an Orange / Red Wire. On the later bikes, the starter switch is setup so the headlight goes off while cranking. The early bikes, it just stays on and is connected with the loop.  This loop needs to go to Orange wire on one side and the yellow wire on the other side. (Alternatively you may just be able to pull both the Orange wire and the Yellow wire out of the Harness side plug and connect them together).

The next two are for the front brake light circuit. This is just a dummy switch, so the polarity doesn't really matter. The control side is red/black and blue. These need to be connected to the Orange/green and black/white on the harness side.

The red and black wire needs to go to the Orange / Green wire
The Black and blue need to go to the Black / White (this is a ground wire)
As mentioned, these can be swapped, doesn't really matter.

The Other loop in the connector is no longer needed. On the early bikes, it was the "key on hot" parking light circuit. The loop supplied power to the Brake lights and a few other things. On the later harness, the connection is made on teh harness side.

Like i said it could be left or right it was a long time ago, but it was one side or the other i know that much.. Its not that confusing its one or the other!! I had bikes in the shop to steal from, so it could be a pain in the ass but not confusing. Both connectors are on the left side of the bike under the cowling, disconnect the right side control and see if it does what your talking about, if it doesn't then its that side you need to swap out.
