What pin
« on: November 25, 2013, 01:38:48 PM »
I was checking my friends motor and found this on the oil drain plug magnet, it`s half inch long and diameter 2mm, so, it`s smaller than clutch needle bearing pin, or whatever pin that came to mind, wtf is it ?

That`s just what i meant, this is smaller than that bearing pin, and they are all there, even those that are originally missing

Hard to tell from the picture. Is it the pin that holds the shoe on a timing chain tensioner?
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

It`s just plain pin, no holes or grooves or anything. Diameter metric 2mm and length exactly 1/2"  :)
I have to check that tensioner, if it`s from there i will buy you a cup of coffee, when you`re around this neighbourhood   :D

Maybe a bearing from the tranny's shaft end . Can't find out unless you split motor. Has motor ever been apart ?

Yes, it`s been apart couple times, now there is 85mm pistons and mildly ported head and cams. But i have done all the assembling, none other have touched it.
Itīs not the starter clutch or transmission bearing needle, they are bigger than this. And there is no swingin pickup.
I`m beginning to believe somebody has put it there  :?
It looks just like some engine part, shiny needle. I don`t have better picture, and it doesn`t help, itīs just a plain pin.

Kinda thought it was to small for a trans pin. I wouldn't worry about it if you didn't find anything.

That was it, thank you very much, you really know your sh.. stuff  :tu:
And what even better, i thought i made some mistake last time assembling, but just remembered that bike owner and one other guy replaced the starter clutch that failed couple months ago, it must have fallen off then, not any harm done though.

I went through same sort of issue, the pin that backs up the cam tensioner spring had came out the first time I tore the motor down and nobody could tell me what it was
The older you get do you notice you start chickening out way before the bike does

I don't doubt that Steve, what screwed me up was at the time I had 4 or 5 other Busa motors apart, and did not remember this little pin coming from anywhere, I don't think that pin was even in those other motors, 2 of them had manual tensioners, I think it was Jay who remembered what it was
