Karl,
I know we have normal aeros & extreme aeros but what about folks like Mike Brakel running FAST with stock aeros , like no cut-down tank....can't remember is he has a long tail.
Dan

Dan, as you might guess, I paid very close attention to "the plastic" of my competitors when I was running Greenie.

IMO for the Busa, the Catalyst-style plastic is barely, if at all, consistently, measurably faster than well taped off stock plastic.

The exception is the SoLow tank.  It does make it easier for the average guy, especially a fat ass like me, to go a couple mph more.  But, i'll put big money on Sal, Greg Neal, yr boys on a stock tank vs "average guy" on a SoLow tank.
Bottom line is I don't see enough of an advantage of most aftermarket plastic over stock to make another "class" in the 200+mph list.

IMO extreme plastic is a whole other ballgame, a step change, a BIG step change.
Just look at the Guppy, 250mph NA!!!  25-30MPH OVER THE COMPETITION!!!!!
I didn't go extreme plastic because i don't really like the way it looks, but the speed is there.
Again, just my opinion.

Hey you serious NA competitors: wanna go 240-250mph in a mile?
It's "simple" :D
1. copy Bill Warners or the Guppy's extreme plastic
2. get a reliable motor with 280-290 Dynojet hp
3a. Set up:  bike configured to faciltate technique
  b. Technique: don't waste 1 inch of track, don't squander 1 hp, don't make any mistakes

I predict 250 NA in a mile, yup.

Steve,

You stated earlier that you were not really impressed with a 230 n/a speed and just now you said it would be nice to be in the top 10.
A whole lot of us are impressed with 230, my hat is off to everyone on the top 10 including your 223.
Dan
Yes I said I wasn't really impressed with a 230 since over 6 yrs has gone by and peeps only increased 3 mph!! tops with standard bodywork. Since you guys have this top ten list and our team set the standards it would be cute to see if I was still in the top ten with a 223!! never came back again to try to go faster. I'm not downgrading what you guys have done I just have my own opinion and not really impressed that's all. Horsepower levels have increased substantially since then too! You have to remember I'm use to seeing Bill go 10-40 mph leaps and Mark doing the same thing with the Guppy!!

VERY close to Showroom Stock.......

Except for the tank bag... :hys:
I think I built that one!  Only thing is I'm not sure If Mike ran 225 in the mile or 1.5. I can tell you there was a lot more in that bike!  You ever see him leave and short shift 3-4 gears at 8k?...  Stock valve head that made 284hp

Just to throw is out, just the facts.  The Wilmington runway is at 1043 ft (elevation). I have run every morning and afternoon (rain notwithstanding) of every event. The DA has been at least 1200ft or most of the time greater,  mainly due to high humidity levels. And even more important: IIRC, less than a handful of times that I was on the starting line that the wind wasn't blowing across the track or in my face strong enough to "hear" and few times more than 20 mph.  Tailwind happened 1 time and it might have been 5 mph.

When I was running Maxton, I remember a few times that the DA was below sea level and rarely I remember a cross/headwind and sometimes we got "Maxton Horsepower".

. I know he went a 212-213.  But yes he may have went 215. And those speeds were at Ohio.  Easy enough to look up .i

Just to set the record straight, all my LSR records have been set with stock Suzuki body work and stock swing arm.  I had the first bike over 200 at Wilmington, 213+.  I was able to bump that to 215+ and Ryan now has that record at 222+.  My SCTA record is 218+ and I have a record at LTA of 225+.  The photo shows the set up I tried at the Sept. ECTA meet.  The swing arm is 4 over and the body work is still stock.  I didn't go as fast as I wanted to, but the bike didn't power wheelie at 150 either.

One thing I've learned racing, just because you did something once, doesn't mean you can do it every time........

And now we need a picture of Dean`s bike

I missed this request Mika, here you go. I added to a set of Catalyst bodywork with steel ribs, fiberglass, cardboard, and bondo. Lots of bondo.  -Dean
