Good question, RH !
When I pull up the RECORD LISTINGS, I find the man is position #72, showing TO.
72 T/O 9984 Neil Burgan 202.1563 2014-05-03 13:14:21 1 Budget Busa Both
With a run time of 13:14:21 on May 3.
According to your reference of the run log.
The same entry # 9984, on run # 75, was in class MPS/BF-1350/4
75 1 9984 MPS/BF-1350/4 202.1563 Neil Burgan New Record: Prior 200.9826 05/03/2014 13:14:21
Which result is correct ?
One has to assume that the Record Listing is correct, since
that would be double checked before publication......
In any case, the Maxton record is:
1105 MPS/BG-1350/4 Scott Guthrie Racing Shane Stubbs Apr-10 256.200
so I feel that to get "the Hat," the rider should have beaten Shane's 256.200 MPH........
I'm just a conservative..........
Cheap Hats,
Cheap hats today.....
Scott,
I have no idea which one of Neil's runs is correct. That's a question for the ECTA folks. None of which post here to my knowledge.
However, you are passing along some incorrect information here in your post.
It looks as though Neil was running in blown fuel. Not in blown gas which is the Maxton record you posted.
Let's give credit where credit is due. The correct Maxton record holder for the class that Neil was running would be....
5112 MPS/BF-1350-4 Warner/Forstall Racing Bill Warner May-10 272.374
Shane is one hell of a rider and a personal friend but not the correct Maxton record holder for Neil's class.
He is certainly the blown gas record holder which is the record you posted.
Yes, Ryan, you are quite right,
and that mistake is mine.
On the other hand, here's a little more information on the question:
At the beginning of the May 2014 meet, the record in the class in question was this:
MPS/BF-1350/4 Ostergard/Robertson Jennifer Robertson 213.6752 2014-07-12 14:47:35I think this record is still Jennifer's and yours, Ryan.
The rider in question raced to this result:
9984 MPS/BF-1350/4 202.1563 Neil Burgan New Record: Prior 200.9826 05/03/2014 13:14:21You will note that the May result was more than
10 MPH slower than Jen's record, set two years ago.
And yet, SOMEHOW, the "rider's" class was changed from
1) MPS/BF-1350/4 to TO (Time only),and then
2)
SOMEHOW, that gained the rider entry into the Ohio 200 MPH Club.
This is NOT the first time that the ECTA has "accidentally" inducted a rider / Driver
into the 200 MPH Club. When I was on the ECTA board of directors, I witnessed
three (3) other times an un-qualified rider was inducted,
and I objected a
LOT.
In two instances, the driver(s) returned and posted proper speeds.
The motorcycle rider made another run in the correct class,
and properly earned the "hat."
Easy as it is to join the Ohio 200 MPH Club,
the rules should still be followed.........
