06 gen1 - Trans hard to shift, 4k miles street riden
« on: July 07, 2014, 08:56:14 AM »
06 gen 1.

I bought this bike with 700 miles a few years back,   Just street riden, now 4k miles

Shifting problem- the trans shifting has always felt stiff, quickshifter works good at low load, go heavy throttle and have to use clutch to shift.

Any suggestions?

I had the same problem on my 2000 I bought new.  I don't remember exactly what it was, it was something in the tranny was not right out of the factory when we tore the engine down, but I was tearing it down to sell the engine in pieces.  Mike at SAE took it apart and found the issue while we were, so if he is on here and can reply, he may remember the problem.  I cannot remember it since it was a few years ago.

No air shifter, stock shifter reversed pattern.

Next on my list is pulling shifter off, I will check for lube issues thx for that input.

Bike did this from day one, it sat up for a few years... long enough that clutch fibres were stuck to plates.  I bought from douche bag lawyer (professional liars) out of Penn.  He advertised bike as perfect, when shipper dropped off is when I figured out clutch problem and then few scuffs from wreck repair..... now we know why it only had 700 miles.

Any one use the factory pro shift star?  We used on road race bikes and liked
