Texas Mile = UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE
« on: October 26, 2014, 03:32:59 AM »
I was VERY proud for Brenda Sue, hitting 227 on her 2nd pass on Fred's big inch Busa, yup, awesome riding, awesome bike.

Then i heard of Valerie Thompson's 217 on a pretty much stock 1000cc BMW???!!!!
My immediate comment to Bob Sellers when he told me was that either she had a 20mph tailwind or the clocks were fucked up.

Then Sat she backed it up w/a 216!!!
Bob said that other bikes seemed to be reporting normal speeds, that Valerie mph was for real.  Holy Schittttt!

Last year when she got a 212 in a huge tailwind many folk said she MUST have engine work, she said no.
But 217 & 216 without a hurricane tailwind???  I am in shock.

WTFG, Valerie!!!!

Often wrong, but never unsure!!!!!

This is by far and away the most impressive speed of the weekend IMO.  217 on a basically stock bike is amazing!! Outstanding job Val!!! Way to freaking go! You're riding the wheels off that bike!  :thumb: :tu:

Joe,  i said:
"Last year when she got a 212 in a huge tailwind many folk said she MUST have engine work, she said no"

That was last year.
I have no idea if it is stock this year.

But no matter what head work MAY have been done  for 2014, getting 216/217 on an NA 1000cc is amazing!!!!!!

MAYBE she had the best headwork on the planet, AND she bored out to 1300, eh?

i know modified top ends when I see them and hear them....:)...

again, WINNING combination....major congrats to Valerie

and for the record, i think its a good thing if one has a modified/enhanced top end, i dont think
anyone needs to be reluctant to acknowledge it, and
I admire it, bottom line if you get the performance your looking for...KUDO's...

Brenda ran 199.6 in the half mile this morning and 223.2 into a headwind from hell. Great run. A pair of 227's this weekend. She rocks!! Oh yeah we have a little headwork done. :hys:

guess i have to ask, what kind of "headwork"...you the bike or Brenda, or do you mean
"top end" enhancements, and again if you can clarify to avoid any ambiguous assumptions...:)

Joe,
I said "basically" stock. Lol!
Stock or not, thats flying for a 1000cc  bike.

You do have a good point though.

Joe,
Man o man, i'm definitely getting way too old when i get confused between ports/valves/cams & enhanced top end.
I agree with you 110%!  Enhanced top ends are to be encouraged, especially for little girl riders.
It's not like we are talking about Ryan or Fred, eh?

Probably some pix would help me!!!!

Yes Karl, none of us are immune to this ...

some of you, Fred and others had had underperforming oem short stroke crank shafts...

And benefitted greatly with a modified longer stroke crank

I realize my stock crank works better with a modified top end on it, or in blown configuration
