No Alternator
« on: December 21, 2014, 11:53:55 PM »
Hey guys, I've done a bit of searching but can't find much on this.
Is anyone running their bike with no alternator, IE total loss ignition/electrics?
On a weight loss program and would love to lose the windings and iron core.

I had lots of dramas on a friends ZX10 with it losing a pile of hp with no alternator.......

Merry Christmas and thanks for any input.

Haven't weighed my bracket bike yet but I should be under 460 with all electronics intact

This gpz has no charging system will run least hour on battery.
Post I put on here little ways down on gs1100 don't have charging system ether its race only.
I don't really know on newer bikes if it can hurt anything. Thing is there both have carbs,I would think if battery good and charged b ok but then again newer bikes more battery demanding so im not shure.Im thinking if volts go low fuel injection might not perform right.

With the EFI and associated sensors, fuel pump and if you do any data logging you should have a charging system. MHO is that fluctuating voltage will cause issues with accuracy.
There are some of the folks having to upgrade their charging systems to keep up with everything.

Even with charging system should still check or charge battery sometime if bike is dragrace only.
Might not have enough time 2 fully charge up.

many drag bikes run without the charging system.  I have been doing it for years with no issues on my hayabusa with datalogging and big motor.
