No really, the better half and I were standing at one of the more popular switchbacks talking with a camera guy that we had known for a while, and he's clicking away each time a bike went by, and here comes this couple on a Harley I think it was a custom wide glide, and he gets it over rounding the bend, sparks flying off the pegs, and went a bit to far and on there ass they went, they were not hurt other than a little road rash, they were on a Harley so they were not going that fast  the poor bike was fucked up pretty good, could not see what was leaking but it had a pretty good leak when we got it righted, and the camera guy got everything, him crashing, his old lady waring him out right after, us picking up the bike and of course the bike Eng leaking oil

Been watchin' crashes on Youtube.  Very unforgiving road.
Yea, it can be, seems like each time I get on line I remember something, a Busa can get to a good lean angle, but remember to keep your feet positioned right. because if you forget and your tootsies are pointed down and you go over you may grind half your foot off

Don't they make peg extenders to get them more forward for big riders?  That might save the toes, anyway.

I think they may make custom rearsets to reposition the pegs, not sure maybe do some checking.... all the same just hit your toes good once and you most likely wont do it again

I folded my left in 1/2 a few times before I remembered to keep it above the shifter while leaning.

How do you feel about "countersteering" in turns?  Grandpa Keith Code swears by it, but what is the other side of that nickel?

Doesn't look like he managed to straighten that one out in time.  Rear wheel kicked out low side.  As for serious counter steering watch some Speedway racing.  Of course, they're not on pavement.....

BTW, we all counter steer whether we know it or not.

My son sez he does not and that counter-steering is garbage.  I have found it very effective in the past personally...........push on the right bar to go right and push on the left bar to go left...........seems simple enuf.

I know plenty of riders who don't believe they do it either but (every) rider does it.  It's really easy to demonstrate it to them just as you said.  Find a nice straight vacant road and putt along at say, 35 mph.  Let go of the bars and hold steady (hopefully they'll have enough experience to do that for a short distance) and then have them push ever so slightly on the right grip.  The bike will go to the right!  Straighten up again and then push the left grip slightly.  The bike will go left.  That's counter steering.  Counter steering (input) varies greatly based on speed and the nature of the corner.  It's really very simple.

So..how does your son get around a corner or change direction? Except for crawling/parking lot speeds, counter steering is the ONLY way to "steer" a motorcycle. Your son just doesn't realize it.

When riding a motorcycle at any sort of speed at all anytime you turn your countersteering, its just the difference in the degree

He's pulling on the right bar, pushing on the left, and moving his weight to the inside.
Yup! He's countersteering.  :bike:

If you do decide to ride the Dragon, try to do it midweek. Less traffic and cops!!
They patrol that stretch much more than in the past. For obvious reason.

This is true, however midweek you run the chance of butting heads with some dumbass truck driver who's trying shave some miles and has no idea where he is, also there is more general civilian traffic midweek that you have to watch for, that being said the better half and I will be making our first run of the year in a couple weeks, mainly to get our 2015 jacket patches,

My BST's will arrive next week....the last piece of the puzzle for now....I plan to ride with Dylan in early May as well.  He just bought a nice little home with a 2 car garage in Chattanooga.   We can ride and hang out.
