Tools and parts, canopy, water lots of water. you can get bottled water in Wendover. Chairs, sunscreen, tarp. Crap I cant think, so what else is new. Hat, well thats a good start!

the Wendover car rental does not like there cars going on the salt , there is one company they run out of S&R  auto  (same owner) and have had agencys at various motels  from time to time

If you get to Motel 6 or any of the nearby motels you could get a ride out easy

Many who rent fly into SLC and rent there , choices and prices are better

if you do rent and go on the salt get some cheap sheets from the $2 shop and cover the floor and seats , and after wash the underside of the car
we rented in 2012 and the car had been used on the salt for Speedweek  a week or so before, it was still covered in salt and they were fine with us using it

Big Dave at WWW Bearings gave me the best advice about using a rental at Bonneville. Protect the inside of the car like you are involved a mob hit and are afraid CSI will get it as evidence.
If you go to McLendon's Hardware they have a thick plastic sheet that has adhesive on the back side that sticks down. It is used by moving companies etc. to protect carpet. Truly a pain to put in but my clean up was about 1 hour before I returned the truck.

Rent away from the SLC airport, if you get salt in the carpet, vacuum it then power wash it in when you clean the car.  Vacuum the excess water.  If you let the car place clean it, it could cost a couple hundred.... the rental agreement says no off road use.
