1397 cam degree numbers

Hi guys.i have a 03 1397 busa with 13.5 JE pistons,2 intake cams,stock head,counterbalancer gear removed.I have tryed a number of different cam numbers but wonder what would make the most hp for my econo set up.Thanks Adam

Well that is variable... 108 to 110 range on both cams will be in there... did you try a search on cam numbers... there is a thread out there that talked about it.  I set mine 108 I 110E I think... that motor was a long time ago and it had custom cams.

Ok Stainless.I was just wondering what is the benefit of having a high number cam degree verses a low number cam degree.Thanks Adam.

Increased cranking compression... piston to valve clearance..... better performance...
You might want to check piston to valve clearances +/- 20 degrees about TDC to ensure they don't get too cozy.

When I was running two intake cams I think I had them at 106/106. I amnot sure, that was a long time ago and I am OLD. :hys:

Iam 51 yrs young.LOL I set the cams at 106 intake and 108 exhaust.Does anyone take out the intake cam positioning sensor and fill the engine with oil though there to help with a new build engine start up ??? .Just wondering if it would help.Thanks Adam

On a new build I fill the oil filter, fill the engine the regular way. I leave the spark plugs out and spin the motor until it puts out the oil light.
