...there's a new sheriff in town boys, and his name's Marc Marquez. :lol:He just took up where Stoner left off, nobody could beat him either. The kid's young, fast, and aggressive and just wants to win, anybody that somehow gets in front of him is just a temporary obstacle to get around.Be nice if Stoner were back to give him a run for his money every now and then, and great to see the old Rossi back, but Marquez will more than likely dominate the division for years to come.Rubbin' is racin',check out a motocross race.Since Stoner left it was always Lorenzo,Pedrosa, etc. walking over everybody and was starting to get a little boring,Marquez brought some new life back into the sport.
Nice thinking about a lot of things !
Could be a dream to bring back
My grandad Jimmy Guthrie fro
the pre-war Isle of Man days.
Also Mick Doohan, Casey Stoner, Mike Hailwood,
Kenny Roberts, Kevin Schwantz, Wayne rainey, Wayne Gardner,
Freddie Spencer, Marco Simoncelli and the other greats from seasons past,
and somehow putting them on the machines
of their choice and seeing how it goes......
There is excitement in "Rubbin' is Racin'," and that is what we are getting.
Certainly Marquez has no long-time rivals in sight at the moment,
with Rossi's age, Pedrosa'a arm pump problems,
and Lorenzo's "scattershot" performance of late.
Joy will be in the waiting, watching and bench racing.
Not too long ago, NASCAR found that the
true heros were the drivers, and not the cars or brands.
As such, NASCAR set abou to make it so that the driver
survives to race another day, even if the cars became junk.
We don't see much evidence that MotoGP has that frame of mind overall......
Yes, they have "soft bariers," air bag leathers and armored gear.
They do NOT have very good hand and wrist protection,
and the worst is the helmets that don't always work,
or cervical-spine protection that is effective.
(Ever notice that these racers fly around the track,
ricocheting off each other, the track surface and the walls,
and you can see their bare necks ?)
Notice too that we were never told the
CAUSE of Simoncelli's death after the on-track situation......
(Yes, we know that he crashed hard, and was probably run over
by Edwards, but was the injury to the brain,
the neck, the spine, the chest or what ?
Hard to protect against a killing force that you don't know about.....
Still, I spend hours watching every MotoGP that I can, and savoring all that racin'.......
