The Doctor "dumps" another.......

Look for this film clip of the "coming to Jesus"
between Rossi and Marquez on Sunday last.

Although he would probably never say so............
I think Valentino knew EXACTLY what he was doing............
A quick look over his right shoulder to locate Marquez.............
the excuse of being "late" for the corner..........
having to "flick the bitch" a little suddenly.....
and down goes Mark !..........
Marquez "barged" Rossi in an attempt to force Rossi off line...........
didn't work..........
Rossi taught him a little lesson in "manners"......
.and it could cost Marquez the championship...........

Don't F..k with the "old guys."

I wouldn't count him out just yet, that was only the 3rd race of 18 and he already has 1 win. :lol:If not for the tire selection he may have won that one too(he had something like a 4 sec. lead until his tires started to go away).

You may be right.

On the other hand, he got in
a little over his head, and "gave away"
20 points that he would have had for
a sure second place.

Remember that he "blew" turn one
in the first race, and that's one reason
he is now 30-some points behind.

Dovi might win it if Marquez and Rossi
keep knocking each other out.......

You may be right also, and instead of going balls out there towards the end(may be hard for him not to )he probably should've just settled for second place instead of taking himself out.

Marquez just got a taste of his own medicine. He finally was on the receiving end of what he has been dishing out the last 2+ years.

Yes.

It may have had more effect on Marquez than we knew.

Mark has often said Rossi is one of his "heros,"
and Mark has "great respect" for Rossi.

Looks like Marquez tried to "barge" his hero,
and his Hero put Mark on the ground.

he just slaps you down......

If he'd(Marquez)kept the extra hard rear tire like Rossi he'd have won the race plain and simple,he sets fastest lap records pretty much wherever he goes. :lol:He's 30 points down for now but that's no biggie, has 15 races left to win them back.

Well yes.  It is hard to bet against Marquez......

Still, 30 points is difficult against
all the folks in front of him.

Had Marquex used the harder hard tire,
 he would have been either
with or behind Rossi at 2/3 race,

Then we would have seen the difference(s) come clear......

Wrong! Marquez said that he gambled on the hard because he didn't have Rossi's pace on the extra hard and knew that was his only chance of winning...jump out to a big lead and hope that it's enough by the end of the race. No one but Rossi could make the extra hard tire work. Rossi's teammate and 2 time world champ Jorge Lorenzo was also on the extra hard and was in total disbelief and amazment of what Rossi did!!

My personal feelings are this:

This race was an ideal match up between the old master
and the young - and wildly talented - pretender to the crown.

1)  Rossi, with 20 years GP experience, gets to the race setup
much more quickly that almost anybody else - especially Marquez.

2)  Thus, Rossi spent much more time in
practice on the "harder hard" tyre than Marquez.

3)  Marquez's "spotters" were aware of the
laps Rossi spent on the "harder hard "Tyre.

4)  The spotters also easily knew the lap times
Rossi was achieving on those tyres.

5)  Marquez "knew" that he could not duplicate Rossi's times
over many laps - at least because Rossi discovered the value
of these "once in a lifetime" tires before Marquez.

6)  Marquez looked at his own times, and estimated that his
best chance was to get quickly to the front (something he
was unable to do in the 1st race) and gap the field.

7)  Rossi knew that if that was the Marquez strategy,
than Rossi would have to hold back a little to save his tires
WITHOUT letting Marquez get out of reach.

8)  Marquez did in fact gap the field, but used up
too much of his tires - evident in being caught by Rossi in the end.

Also, by the time Rossi arrived, Marquez tyres were gone
to the point that his only hope was to "Block or Barge" Rossi.

9) Instead of trying to drop in behind Rossi
and slipstream him on the last lap, Marquez
elected - perhaps by mistake
(from a 2 times MotoGP champion ?)
 the Block or Barge,
and lost all points.

10) Marquez learns fast.

11) Rossi learns faster !

Marquez has broken an "important" bone in his
left little finger in a flat-track training crash.

His fitness for the next MotoGP race is in question.......

I saw a picture of him with his hand in a cast.

I would NOT count him out in any way shape or form for this weeks upcoming race! With all of the electronics these days, that clutch lever doesn't get used the way it use too!

Rossi is my favorite,  but Marquez is on another level,  as long as the same shit doesn't happen Marc will win another championship with Rossi 2nd. He's just that good, we'll and the bike. Like someone said if he was on the same tire the outcome would've been different.

Rossi is my favorite,

Me too.

Marquez is for sure the face of the future though
and I appreciate his every on-track experience.
No doubt he has - baring serious injury - a fantastic future.

I ride Ducati high-performance bikes, (999R and 1199R)
on the street and occasionally the track, so I follow the
"team of the two Andrea's" avidly.

Cal Crutchlow has come into his own in the last couple
of races, and could be in the mix if the factory men
have problems.....

So much fun to be watched.

So much fun speculating !

And a special note to Steve,
and those who "know :"

Just remember, you and I are SO much
faster than those MotoGP guys........

I am inclined to agree with Scott here.

For Rossi at Assen, it was a true
master class in race control.

Marquez returned with his new
swing arm to last year's 2014 frame,
 to get "the feeling."

Rossi went with a 30-day old frame, a
nd won convincingly.

Both men had the skill,
pace, and speed to win.

Rossi had the experience.
