Rossi started from pole, and by a few turns in,
was in control of the race.

Maybe 15-20 laps, Rossi made a "small error"
and the Savy Marquez seized the moment.

Within a few laps, Rossi had passed Marquez,
but could not pull out a gap - despite
posting his personal best lap - and the lap record.

Rossi has watched - at least on film - every race Marquez has run.

Here's MY thinking:

1)  Rossi KNEW Marquez would make a challenge.

a)  Rossi KNEW it would be late enough that Rossi
would not be able to retaliate, as Rossi usually does.

b)  Rossi FIGURED it would be in the last turn,
so Marquez would have only the run to the finish to complete.

2)Knowing where Marquez would attack,
Rossi laid a trap.

a)  Rossi DELIBERATELY left what he
ASSUMED Marquez would think was a gap.

b)  Sure enough, Marquez fell into the trap.

c)  Rossi, "closed the door" on Marquez.

d)  Rossi figured there was a high probability
that Marquez would hit him.

e)  Rossi was prepared for the "hit,"
and responded accordingly.

f) Marquez was taken by surprise,
and initially said that "I was ahead on track,
and Rossi leaned on me."

g) Race film show clearly that Rossi was
ahead-on-track when Marques rammed Rossi.

The operation was a success,
and the Doctor's patient died......

What a finish! I initially thought Rossi erred and cut the corner with an unfair advantage, thinking they would penalize Rossi and give the win to Marquez. After seeing the replays, it was made clear to me that Rossi was the rightful winner. Rossi just continues to amaze! Marquez will dominate someday, it just wasn't that day.

I went back to Motogp.com, and looked
at the replay of the Argentina race
(Around 52 minutes).

Marquez came into a corner a little too hot,
and tried to force his way inside Rossi.

Same result.

Marquez loses,  Rossi wins.

I suspect Rossi has respect for Marquez,
but that does NOT extend to "letting him win."

If there is a "fighter in MotoGP's highest level,

it's Rossi.

Great posts and links.

Marquez is a sore loser.

The last line of that MotoGP article made me laugh out loud.

I still root for Marquez,if he crashes out early I change the channel(never really cared for Lorenzo,Pedrosa,or Rossi and could care less which one of them goes on to win but was a Casey Stoner fan and wish he was still riding).

Rossi is way ahead of Marquez in points, too far I think for them to be made up.  I'm wondering if their front tire choice hampered Rossi and Lorenzo's performance?

Still 9 races left, don't know how the points will stack up if Rossi crashes out a few times and Marquez wins 5 or 6 more times.

And Rossi extended his championship lead...

Not over Marquez,I believe they went into that race with Rossi @163 points and Marquez @74(89 points difference),now it's Rossi @179 and Marquez @114(65 points difference)...

Then again I may have some of these numbers incorrect bro,but I'm old and a little senile.

Rossi is my favorite,

Me too.

Marquez is for sure the face of the future though
and I appreciate his every on-track experience.
No doubt he has - baring serious injury - a fantastic future.

I ride Ducati high-performance bikes, (999R and 1199R)
on the street and occasionally the track, so I follow the
"team of the two Andrea's" avidly.

Cal Crutchlow has come into his own in the last couple
of races, and could be in the mix if the factory men
have problems.....

So much fun to be watched.

So much fun speculating !

And a special note to Steve,
and those who "know :"

Just remember, you and I are SO much
faster than those MotoGP guys........

You can't knock Cal and I'm not just saying that because he is a Brit.
Time and again hes been snapping at the heals of the factory bikes and taking a podium or two. Apart from his Ducati time out.
He works his balls off on a satellite bike to be there in the frame.
Respect.  8)
I have no more sh*ts to give.

After today I have 0 respect for that little weasel Rossi(not that I ever cared for his ass anyway),about the most blatant/intentional cause of a crash I've ever seen.Evidently the race director(along with everyone else)deemed it that way also and deducted 3 points from his whiny little ass(stating Thurs. that Marquez was working for Lorenzo ),should have disqualified his little monkey faced ass.Rubbing is one thing, but intentionally waiting for someone and causing a crash is chickenshit, could have crippled the kid for life and ended his career. The last race in 2 weeks should be good, hopefully Marquez's only goal will be to go after Rossi and intentionally bust him up,I know I would.

MM took the championship from Lorenzo last year by wiping him out.
It's a dirty old business and while MM has wiped a few out he has only earned one warning.
Seems like MM was not interested in the leaders but just intent on holding Rossi up?

Play with fire etc......
