Rod bearing pic - opinions?
« on: May 01, 2015, 10:16:11 PM »
Odd looking bearings on this 09 14. Factory bottom end with short, flat aftermarket pan that uses a shortened stock pickup. Rest of oiling system looks stock.

Top half pic. Also one main. All rods look the same . The mains look good right past the oil hole. Rest of bearing looks like rods. Engine is pushing around 240hp with a dry shot and name brand head/cams.

Oil starvation?  Almost looks like metal to metal transfer.

Used to see something like that in Caterpillar diesel engines when they blew a head gasket and started dumping ethylene glycol in the oil.
If the guy run it long enough (you'd think people wouldn't be that dumb but...) a simple blown head gasket would turn into a swing engine. :td:

Looks like debris in the oil.

Are you sure this is a factory bottom end? Post some more pictures if the bearings. Not sure what the one with a round hole I. The center is,looks odd to me.

Appreciate yall's thoughts. Pickup screen had lots of trash but not sure if it was starving. Could be it was. The shiny stuff is nonmetallic. Pickup had sufficient clearance. Perhaps too much at 5/8".
