facebook flashI
« on: May 08, 2015, 08:27:56 PM »
I have been away from Busa's for a couple years but recently started building a 1441 cutrail gen2.   I know  petrik and boost by smith sells the  box to flash your ecu , I do have one and they are the way to go.

.  My question and I  think I  already know the answer.  I keep reading  on facebook that people are  saying to mail your ecu to get flashed tuned .. How the hell can you tune something without a dyno?   The guy that flashes them said a typical gen2 makes 192-198 with a pipe and his mail order tune??    Has something changed in the last two years regarding tuning?  People rave about this mail order tunes!

There is no good substitute for having your bike in the hands of a good tuner with the right tools to do the job right.
Closed course. Professional rider. Do not attempt.

Still privately owned and operated by Hayabusa owner enthusiasts. 2002, small  a/a kit, CF body

If it's in a truck or trailer, it's being stolen

A Gen II Busa, no.   A ZX-14 tuned by Johnny Cheese............that and 6 more for a total of 204.  That, even though I don't particularly like a -14, was cool.

Yeah the new 14's make good power out of the box..   I was almost thinking about going to that side , I think it is a better stock bike but who leaves a bike stock.

Nobody does.  A ZX-14 does not lend itself to engine mods as easily as a Busa.............you can do a 1441 kit on a Gen II Busa with headwork and have 220 RWHP.

A 14, as you know, has cylinders integrated with the cases.  I do not like that.  Plus, green is an unlucky color, IMO.   :thumb: :bike:

Brock's performance sells a pile of exhausts for the Busa and they also send a pre-programmed Power Commander with it for about 350 more.  They have set these units up after countless hours on the Dyno tuning with the same type motorcycles.  I really like mine.  Fastest stock motor Busa I ever owned or rode.

The most they ever got out of a Gen II with stock internals was about 192 - and we are talkin' less-than-zero weight oil, a non-O-ring chain, etc., but the bike was on pump gas and the gas was ethanol free.

198 with just a pipe and no other mods,  dam that must a hell of a tune up, I think maybe the fans cooling the motor had a little happy gas going through them, I'm not going to say no fucking way, but I would have to be there running the dyno, and riding the bike after, I think honestly it would be more like 172-178
The older you get do you notice you start chickening out way before the bike does

Yea that's it, the MR-12 along with the other goodies you might get 198, still I'd have to be there

Gotta be a very "un-stingy" Dyno, methinks.

Brock's got 192 on a 2009 with a Power Commander (PCV) and a "Full Race" Pipe and a non-O-ring chain, BST carbons with ceramic bearings, Vortex alloy sprocket, Short Stacks, Less-Than Zero weight synthetic oil from Alysyn with Petron, and Non-ethanol pump gas and that bike likely made 50+ pulls to get that number.

Just a pipe would net ya about 8-10 or so..........on a good day, IMO.

Flashing the ECU and tuning through the ECU are different things. There are lots of things you can accomplish flashing an ECU without tuning.

A Flash can, just as you say, do a bunch of stuff..........but 198?   Hmmmmmmmm.   :?

I'm hoping for a 190 SAE rwhp with the short meg, short stacks,Sprint filter, etc. when these guys get done with the tune/mapping,know several guys that went there with great results(definitely seem to know their shit).
