Top Speed Tuesday June Elvington.
« on: June 25, 2015, 07:15:11 PM »
Again we were blessed with good conditions for the latest mid week meeting at Elvington with a slight cross wind but mostly 6 to 9 mph caused no issues at all.
The day started off cool about 55F with good air off the back of a North Wind but later in the afternoon it warmed up to around 70F as the wind faded and changed direction and the sun showed up.
We had a number of stockish bikes running including one Busa being shared between several disabled riders missing legs at various points and they had a great time in the 170s and will be back later I am sure.
There were also several of the Wheelie brigade out to practice for their big event in August but only Jason King on his new Holeshot Gixxer 1000 turbo did a top speed run over the magic mark at 222.26 mph which was very good considering he has only had the bike back from Jack recently and that will move him up a bit from his current 108 position on the list..
We had a Lambretta scooter from the 70s with a lot of engine work that ran bests of 99.894 mph and 99.439 mph and a 1957 Vincent 1000 in a Norton frame that ran a best of 127.429 mph with no more bodywork than a tiny fly screen.

None of the big hitters improved on their previous best speeds
Becci Ellis 255.709 mph
Jack Frost 248.498 mph
Les Marsh 241.715 mph
All a little off their bests and I ran 226.048 mph after a few slower runs to try things out then got ready to do a "fast" run only to spot my fairing had split open below the nose so it went back in the trailer. Paul Brookes ran a 209.098 again a bit off his best.

Next meeting is scheduled to be July 21st.
