rear spring
« on: August 24, 2015, 03:25:38 PM »
I have a 1st gen. Busa and am going to drag race it.It has a bolt on swing arm extension. I weigh 280 with all gear on.The stock spring is way too soft.Race Tech is close to my home ,but mostly do dirt bikes. The shock will have to be redone also. Any input will be appreciated.

Brock's sells a good drag-shock with a remote reservoir for both rebound and compression dampening.  I am having it installed as we speak on a Mac arm at 4" over.  Stocker won't get it done for you, it appears.  Spring is too weak.

Doug,

I know there are several places around but can't think of them at the moment(someone should chime in within the next day or two),though you might give these guys a call.

Traxxion Dynamics did my front end years ago for my little ZX9 and their work was very good, IMO.

I took it to race tech in Corona. They did several shocks and springs for me for dirt bikes back when I was racing,,or trying too! I filled out a sheet with details,,age, weight, swingarm length. Just about all the suspension business people have the formula for spring rates. Will be testing at Irwindale 8th mile soon.

No kidding, a 280-suited rider who's 30 will make the bike sag just as much as a 280-suited rider who's 55.

But the 30 year old will have more weight in the upper body while the 55 year old will have it all in his tummy.  :hys:

My guess is they are keeping track of the ages of their customers.

I tested at Irwindale 8th mile. Made 4 passes, with a best of 7.31 e.t. at 105. Lots of tire spin off the line. I will do some more shock adjustments and am looking for a stock 1st gen. rear rim.I want to run a drag radial. Any one in so.cal. have one?...as far as age on the tech sheet at race tech,i have the slightest idea!..At the track I was teasing some young guys that 60's the new 30...one of them told the announcer,so over the loud speaker he blurted out that the rider says 60's the new 30...he said he didn't know if I was talking about eyesight or the bike! Dam kids...Again I need a 1st gen. rear wheel.
