[Shinko Hook-Up] Actual diameter when loaded?
« on: December 27, 2015, 09:17:50 AM »
Hi Guys,

Shinko advertises this tire having an overall diameter of ~24.5" in our size.  Has anyone ever measured actual diameter or rolling circumference with typical race pressures?  Ex. put a chalk mark on the sidewall (and garage floor) then roll the bike until the chalk mark lines up with the floor again, make another mark on the floor, then measure the distance between the lines?

thanks,
Frank

This request is for a tire I'm fitting on a project bike.  The reason I'm wondering is that I know there's at least 2" difference between claimed diameter and actual "effective" diameter when there's less air in a particular tire (this on a drag slick on another bike.)  I'm trying to get gearing as close as I can right off the bat for this build and am wondering if folks have observed anything similar.      :bike:
