« on: January 11, 2016, 05:08:39 AM »
It's off again !! The 2016 season starts at Mugello.

Marquez fan club aren't going because of sense of danger? or threat?
I hope not and I hope fans respect each other and the teams better than that.

It's a sport not cage fighting ffs

I love Mugello. Great track for MotoGP. I saw Rossi win on a Yamaha there the year after he left Honda. The Italians tend to get a little excited about those things.

Phil Read says DORNA acted like "Spanish mafia" over the Rossi and Marquez situation.

Last year was last year  :thumb:
This is a brand new season and its going to be good  :D
I wonder how long it takes with Casey Stoner before he wants to race? He can't be around the team and not be drawn into it?

Dumb question here - Do Guy Martin or Michael Dunlop race Moto gp?

Not that I've heard of, either one.  Martin hasn't even won the TT yet although he's been on the podium a dozen times or so and is blazingly fast.  Dunlop has won it twice I think but Joey D has won it over two dozen times.  Sadly he died on a track in Estonia racing motorcycles some years back.  I think there's another Dunlop that races too but not in GP.

Guy Martin is primarily a road racer.
I wouldnt put him down after seeing his win history.
To get a podium at the TT is like racing amongst the gods.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Martin

I would just add that road racing is poles apart from circuit racing.

Michael Dunlop is no lightweight either.
A few more than two wins.

Riders crash and die every year at the TT, it is not a race for anyone who has any fear.
Here is Guy chasing Michael at speeds up to 200mph on normal roads through towns and villages.
No safe run offs or smooth track surfaces.
This is real living on the edge.

Some people might think they are fast on their local roads, but they are nothing comapred to these guys, nothing at all.

Thanks for the info.....................it just seems to me that the talent of sucessfully and consistantly being able to run well in the TT would lend itself to being able to race in Moto GP.  Would the transition be that difficult?  I noticed that HOS commented that the two types of racing are worlds apart.  That is something that I did not realize.  To me, being able to race well and win or place in the Isle of Man would indicate talent and ability that could be used in Moto GP, but, then again, my knowledge is not what you guys know about these two types of racing.  That vid of Michael and Guy is pretty dang amazing.

Here you are Dave, there is no one simple answer.

http://www.devittinsurance.com/blog/tt-vs-motogp-whos-faster-whos-better-whos-braver/

https://motothoughts.wordpress.com/2013/04/28/isle-of-man-tt-vs-motogp-the-difference/

Perhaps there is one answer that stands out above any other and that is the TT is the most dangerous bike race in the world.
How many race series have several riders die every year? Thats why so many times you'll see the heading "Balls of Steel" with TT video's.
One step out of place at between 100 and 200 mph is highly likely to kill you. In saying that they don't often drop below the ton.

You now how narrow 3 lanes can become at 200mph? Imagine a narrow village road where two cars couldnt pass together?
This video of Mickey Dunlop on a 600 shows how terrifying it is in such confined streets. Just one slip up and you're gone.

Right, I misread his history.  One stat is confusing, what's it mean TTs "contested" =8 but he has 11 wins?

Contested means took part and he races in several different classes.

This is when the TT gets really scarey, when its raining hard.
This is what I don't get and its just too much to comprehend.
Still clocking 200mph in the WET ???????

https://youtu.be/b9v8C7mT-Tk

Anyone given it just a little too much throttle in the wet on tarmac? Slid off? Got it sideways?
Nah, these guys are flat out just the same.

That vid of Michael on the 600 is absolutely amazing.  I was fascinated and quite humbled.  A man that can ride like that, it seems to me, can ride any course in the world.  Thanks much for posting it up HOS.
