Damn, you are still above ground and vertical. :lol:I got one of those the other day but don't know if I'll follow up on it,relocated my rectifier back in the tail section a couple of years ago and haven't had any issues with either it or the original battery.Probably would swap out the rectifier if they'd just give it to me to swap out at home but doubt they'd do that since they wouldn't get paid from Suzuki.

I thought that a recall by any auto/bike manufacturer was guaranteed to be fixed for free due to DOT regulations.  I'm confused.

Why risk a fire?

I hear you,if I got mine switched out I'd want to be there to take off/reinstall the tail section myself but doubt they'd go for that.Have 5 years now on the original rectifier and battery so must have gotten a good one.

Letter said it only takes an hour so I'll try and find a place that will do it while I wait close by

Makes perfect sense. My dealer allows me to go in the back and watch while the mechanics work on my stuff.

Dealer told me they won't order the part until they have the bike at their shop.

I figure it will be there about a week for the whole process. Ordering the part, delivery
and install.

Looks like I don't have a choose if I want the recall done.

That is a crock of manure.  All you should have to do is show the Dealer your registration and the VIN with your recall letter which will tell him your bike is under recall and he can order the part without your bike having to be physically on the property.  Your dealer sucks balls, IMO.

Huh? How on earth do they justify that? I called the dealer, they asked for the VIN so they could start the ticket, I got a call back 3 days later to say they'd got the part, I took the bike in this afternoon, less than an hour later it was done!

I don't understand the need to have your bike, or why they'd want to store it.

this is the second time... their was a recall for the rectifier a couple years ago too.  I never took my 09 in and never had any problems.  I know a friend that knows the dealer well just took his off his bike and took it in and they swapped it out. He told them strait up they were not touching his bike.

My closest dealer wouldn't just give me the parts but said call 2 weeks out (that is how long it is taking to get parts) make an appointment bring it by and they'll change it out as I wait. I mentioned that it is not in the original spot and the bike has had a teeny weeny bit of work done to it. Told me no worries and pointed to a turbo bike they were swapping one out on. I'll just pull the plastic off the tail in the waiting area and they will swap it. He said they have to at least touch a bolt to get paid for it.

Getting my rectifier recall taken care of next week at South Bay Motorsports. Like Ghost-Geezer stated, "Piece of mind is priceless".
