What tire since no more Michelin power one?
« on: April 28, 2016, 04:10:36 PM »
I used a few power ones for the track and street for my 400 hp bike. I bought a Michelin super sport last year because I was told it was the power one replacement. I don't like it. Breaks loose to easy. Who is using the cup?  Which compound?  Or what is the hot tire now?

Think you should ask this in the drag racing section - few if any land speed racers used the power one

Last I heard they've now replaced the Super Sport with the Super Sport "EVO",which supposedly has a softer sidewall like the old Power One.

Not true. And I am one of those who do use it.

I used a Power One until I couldn't find any more.  Switched over to a Shinko Stealth (003) and couldn't be happier. My datalogs show little tire slip on the fast end.  Now, granted, I do put the bike on warmers...don't know how they would do cold.

Thanks for the correction - I thought they were too soft for LSR -- but you and RansomT have run them faster than I'll probably ever go!

Quite a few using the Power Cup in the UK mostly in 200/55 size and B compound but the other compounds have been used in different track conditions.
