ECTA to lose Wilmington track ?
« on: May 04, 2016, 12:02:45 PM »
It was heard over the weekend that the ECTA,
currently running at the Wilmington, OH
air park, may lose that track use.

Rumor is that the air park is VERY close
to signing up AMAZON as the major user.

This will mean that, if the ECTA cannot
make arrangements with AMAZON, than
the ECTA will have to move to another track.

Among the problems will be that all the current
records will be "mothballed" with the Maxton
records, and the record book "started over."

In the past, the ECTA has considered the
entrance road to the Talladega Superspeedway,
which would present a paved 18,000 foot track,
with one owner.

This would be long enough to offer 1/2 mile/ 1 kilo,
mile, 2 kilo, 1.5 mile, 3 kilo and 2 mile efforts.

Keith Turk stated: The deal is, this is a closed runway
that is viable as a major hub for anyone of a number of businesses.

The Managers of the facility are doing their best in a poor economy
to find qualified users who can financially fund the place.

We've all heard that Amazon is interested And is currently using
a small portion of the facilities. The air park is informing all the other
users that they are trying to attract this kind of a business and that
we are all on a meet by meet basis.

This is the same for the SCCA as well.

We actually expect to be able to continue racing there
but we understand the seriousness regarding the
possibility of losing the facility. All this having been
said we are now and always have
looked at all possible options.

So yes, the ECTA has lost this track,
and has not yet announced where or if
they will be racing next year, 2017
