Mojave Mile Changes
« on: June 18, 2016, 11:59:49 PM »
Was thinking of spectating at the Mojave Mile in October so checked there website www.mojavemile.com to find dates and seen this posted on their main page.  Guess will have to find a different venue if I want to travel south of the border to spectate for an event.  Would love to get that 200MPH ticket myself but finances are just not there for me to do so.

Major policy change for October 2016 and later

We regret to announce a major policy change effective immediately.  Our Mojave events are now PRIVATE and CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.  The airport has dictated that we admit no spectators, and that we keep the number of people inside the gate to a minimum.  You will have to be a racer/crew/guest, MKM staff member, MKM special guest, official/safety person or preapproved media or vendor to get in.  Each entrant will get up to 4 additional free gate entry bands, but we will be charging for any beyond that.  Please see the document "MKM Mojave 2016 Airport Gate Entry Policy" for more details.

I agree with Jim, I suspect lots of racers will have spectator tickets available.

However, I would like to throw a spin on this because that is what I do.
Mojave is an awesome event, run by a great team. As a competitor it really grinds me as I'm standing around for hours in the sun, all leathered up,
waiting for yet another freakn Piper Cub to do touch and go's.
And as a spectator, you may be a bit let down because you can't see anything.

What I would recommend is spectating at the Bonneville Salt Flats.  It will be the coolest event you have ever gone to.
Not to mention Carmin's Black and White Bar in Wendover, on race nights it's the coolest bar in the world.
