Unbraced or Braced swingarms
« on: June 29, 2016, 07:36:41 AM »
What is the way to go for drag racing for a Busa. Gen 1 or 2 - Uncut rail, stock neck, turbo or nitrous bike. Braced or unbraced? See both on track but am sure braced would be for high power applications only or does it come down to looks for some.

I agree seat time is very important, but I want to order a swingarm but not sure if I must go braced or unbraced. Just looking for peoples opinion.

I don't think you'd need it bro(unless you go more for the look),10 years ago seems most everybody went with underbracing 'cause that was the thing at the time.I see a lot of bikes now without it,even big hp Pro Street and grudge bikes.Friend has an 18" over chromoly Evil arm(with no underbracing)on his all motor 1507 with a flat slick and with 250+ passes hasn't had any issues.

Did that break at the welds?
Have a Harley, spent lots of money on it, thought I had a fast motorcycle, bought a Busa, realized all I had was a fast Harley, not a fast motorcycle!

It depends on who makes the arm. If you buy a piece of shit made from off the shelf square edge aluminum extrusions, get a braced arm.

We run prostreet turbo bikes to sub 6.80 et without bracing.
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.
