Sept 8th to 11th.
Santa Pod England.

Last years event:

I hope to see Thomas and Peter Granica aka Team Joker (Super street) there this year. That would be cool  :tu:
I'm not sure about Mikey and his crew? He's been very quiet on here lately. I hope all is well.
Anyone else coming over from across the pond?

Just ordered our tickets for the final days racing.
There are 8 top fuelers in the finals!!!! A big event anyway.
Thankfully Santa Pod have excellent ground crews.

Really excited now  8)

The weather was good yesterday with patchy cloud and blue sky with sunny periods, but the wind got very high by the evening.
This morning it rained very hard for a few hours starting before 6am. Although its not raining now here where I am, it could be at The Pod.
The weather forecast for today on the BBC is rain all day. But as IO said it stopped raining an hour ago and the roads are slwlying drying it.
However the sky is full of grey rain clouds, so not good a outlook for the rest of today. The weather is supposed to change at about 5pm tonight to sunshine
for tomorrows finals.  They might have a tough job getting any racing today.
This is a  big event with a lot of racing to do.

I hope the forecast is correct for tomorrow, but this is England  :thumb:

I hope you guys are ok down at the Pod? If you're sat around with no racing, give us a shout on here?

Wellingborough is the nearest major town to Santa Pod. The BBC weather forecast:

Huge fuck up and tbh I'm still feeling pissed so Ill keep it short. ish.

There was no racing at all on saturday. So a lot had to be pushed over to the sunday including spectators.
The roads to The Pod are very narrow country lanes with nowhere to pull off or to stop.
We joined the queue of stationary cars to get in about 3 miles from the track.
In 1/2 an hour we moved maybe 150 yards and only because lots of cars infront of us were doing u turns in the road
to go back. Dangerous in itself with cars also overtaking the long line of stopped traffic to turn off further up the road.
I know from past experiences its going to be at least a 3 hour haul from there to the gate. At least. Done it before years ago,
With our health and mobility problems we can't sit in the car that long a time.
The time  was 10-50 am by then.
There are three roads like this to just the one turn into Santa Pod.
Cyclists were giving us the situation as they came past and talked to other motorists.,

We had to make a decision and we chose to leave it.
As I said I'm prerty pissed and we took a boot load of British beer and traditional pub snacks for Thomas and Peter.

Sorry guys.
No photos no report.

The situation at Santa Pod was unprecedented with access to the track.
We were wise to avoid the lengthy queues.
We were pretty gutted to have to make the decision to leave it.

However.
Unbeknown to me, my lovely little lady had emailed Santa Pod and explained why we couldn't get there and she asked if instead they could send us a couple of tickets for a lesser event
We've both been going there for over 30 years. A good few of those before we met.
But yesterday a plain white envelope arrived in the post and I had no idea at all.
Inside were two tickets from Santa Pod to make up for missing the FIA finals.
But Santa Pod didn't send us two tickets for a lesser event.
No. They sent us all weekend passes for 3 days racing at The UK national finals thus weekend !!!
How about that!! What a great gesture from The Pod !!!
Decked me !!!
So here we are, both of us worn out and very happy after today's racing.
A rwyb event but also a lot of racers testing and setting up for the heats and finals over the next two days.

Just so happy atm.
Thank you so much Santa Pod what a great bunch of people!!!
Can't wait for tomorrow..... seeing the times being laid down today it's going to be awesome  8)

Had an excellent day trackside yesterday.
The heats were getting hotter as the day went on.
Sadly I broke the lens on my smart phone camera and didnt realsie until I got hom last night.
So taking a Canon ixus compact with me today.

There were a few low 7s in superstreet and some very fast terminal speeds.
Commentators are pretty bad they don't seem to know whats going on or remember names,.

See you later  :thumb:
