YouTube has the 2017 liter bike test, gixxer 1000 has the best roll on, best 1/4 time, and just a few hp short of the bmw, they rank it lower in some places,  looks like a winner to me.
And Dodge release the Demon tonight 840 hp 9.65 1/4 mile, and banned by the NHRA, What is the world coming to ? :jaw:
Man I wish bike performance was progressing like performance cars, I can't imagine the next ZR1 vette. I'm done waiting on the next generation Hayabusa,  I plan on finding a clean gen 1 and boosting it
300hp low boost and about 400hp on high  should satisfy me.

HP war for bikes from the factory were addressed several years ago, but for cars it's just beginning or at least history is repeating itself...We had a failing auto industry that was not giving the people what they wanted, so many began to purchase imports (high dollar one's) and finally some engineer at an American comp. said in order that we stay in business we must compete with the imports, and the HP war began...Unfortunately American muscle cars are damn near as expensive as their counterparts, but when you have Chevys, Fords and Dodges are running away from the imports, we start beating our chest "American Made" (which is not completely true)...But it is good to see how vibrant society has responded to this new HP war, but with another recession upon us we will see if American made cars will survive, because there will be no bailout this time around...
Getting "Blown" is a hell-of-a drug...STUNNAH...

Thanks for the comment,  and I like that 2002 hayabusa  in your signature, I had one like that, the European government said no bike to exceed 186 mph,  a horsepower limit was mentioned but never agreed to. That was funny BMW  was mostly involved with the(speed) limit then comes out with a 190 hp 1000 bike. The motorcycle companys should  continue to honor their agreement, but fix the bikes were once they are flash you get at least 30-50 hp.
When H2/H2R are 28-58 K,
 A  60 k 650 hp ZL1
 707 60k Hell  Cat
 GT 500 2013/2014 is not bad !
It just seems like bike $ are starting to go way up and hp is moving like molasses  . Remember the 1999 hayabusa was 10k a steal in my book, a 30 hp jump compared to most bikes, now it's  $15k for 172-175 hp  so 5k more for 12hp 40cc more. The 1000 are just starting to get some hp since the 05 gsxr 1K 155/160 hp, I had a 160 hp one and only the new bmw was better yes they copied the zuk. And later a ZX10 flashed could make 170 hp. I really like Suzuki products over everything else but when I bought a brand new ZX14R for 12600 otd, and around 190 hp that's bargain .
1000cc bike  are 190 hp now,
Hayabusa and ZX14R should be 220-230 hp for 15-17k.

Just to put this in perspective a little bit... from what I have read so far, the Demon is only street legal IF you purchase options.  It isn't NHRA legal because it is too fast to run without a rollcage.  Ford has offered Mustang "speed packages" for the past 20 years from their performance store that puts HP ratings and 1/4 mile times right along with the Demon for a LOT less $$.  This is exactly the same thing Dodge is doing, but they are marketing it as a separate car.

Now to the bikes:  according to the inflation calculator, $10,400 in 1999 is $14,950 in today's money. So a Gen 2 Busa cost the same as a 1999 Gen 1 in 1999.  The speed restriction of 186 has more to do with tire manufactures and safety than anything else.  Don't know how BMW is getting away with it.
I "think" one of the reasons you haven't seen a huge increase in bike HP is the typical rider is getting dumber and attorney's are getting more crooked. The other reason was the turn down of 2007, people stopped buying motorcycles unless it was a Harley.  You do know that KTM is offering a motogp bike for sale to the public, 240-250 HP, and like the Demon it isn't street legal without "options".

If you want to spend $50k, I might know how to turn that. Ash into a fast "streetbike"
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

The Demon is street legal take it and get it registered just like any other car...For NHRA events it must have a roll cage installed...Offering a speed package is much different than offering a production car with full warranty...If you want to carry passengers you can buy the front passenger seat for $1.00, and the rear seat for the same price... :tu:

That's what it was all about way back in 2006 & they sold all but three of them ~ anybody that weighed under 200 pounds could toss the clutch & push a button .  .  .

Not saying that the Demon isn't something for sure, but the performance packages from Ford keeps the factory warranty.   And yes, you are absolutely correct, a total package production car is something real special.  But for how much more $$$?
Well, I'm not convinced about that street legal thing ... you can't register or operate a car/truck in Kentucky as a personal vehicle that only comes with 1 seat standard.  It becomes a "non-passenger" vehicle and requires commercial license.  Don't ask me how I know this.   :crap: But it is also illegal in Kentucky to have a remote starter (and use it) because someone must be present inside of a running car at all times. (???)
