Hey yezz old bastids..........
« on: May 03, 2017, 09:52:35 PM »
Hi y'all.
I haven't been around in awhile, but I'm still kicking.
LOTS have changed over the last couple of years. June of 2016 I walked outta work before I beat someone down, or got beat. Either way..........
Went and sat on a nice ladies couch and she determined that I might be a little stressed, lol, so I turned 55 in November and liked the time off so much that I sent them an email and told them that they need not look for me in 2017. December 30th, 2016 was my last day.
I had Steve Knecum build me a bigass motor. Johnny tuned it, and we added a hunnit shot. It's a little short on HP because he built it light on compression so I could spray it big and also run pump gas, plus i'm going thru a street pipe instead of a sidewinder. The hunnit netted 95 hp for a total of 335 to the tire, spinning on the dyno.
I peeled off some cash and am building my dream house in the middle of 4.5 acres in the woods.
There's a WHOLE lot to talk about, but I won't bore y'all unless someone is interested.
Check out the time from 85mph to 185mph. It's only a 6 second trip.
I am 1 up on the front and 2 down on the rear. I didn't hit the spray till third gear, at only 40%.
ENJOY.

Hey you old fart  ! Yeah it slow around here,  it's not like it use to be, sounds nice on your place,  I know what you mean I have 3 years or about 2 1/2 to retire from the state of Texas and man am I ready, I might haft to come visit you one day and go out for lunch, I might even drive the LS chevelle down, or the 14R. Looks like you still love the Busa, still have your 14R ? I'm thinking about asking our local Suzuki shop about a salesmen job in a few years doing something I enjoy/love for motorcycles, or flip or cars and trucks  I have a 68 C10 stepside right now waiting for the right owner to come along.

Good to see you Rev. Sounds like you got it going your way. I'm selling all of my Big Block stuff and going LS.
I bought a virgin low mileage 2012 Grand Sport and as you prolly already can guess, I hurt the motor, lol. It went a 10.18 at 137 with a cam, headers and a 200 shot. Stock convertor and 2.73 rear end. I put a Texas Speed LS3, 376" shortblock and had them CnC the heads. Oh yeah, and I put a second nitrous kit on it. Well, Nitrous Outlet sent us the wrong jet chart, so instead of adding an additional 200hp on the second kit, I was adding another 400hp. Needless to say, I hurt the engine on the dyno. I'm at 43% leak down on 3 cylinders......So, what does the average guy do when that happens?? I remove the second kit and up the 1st kit to 300hp. Leaving on 225hp and ramping the other 75hp in over a .4 seconds. So........I left at 1500 rpms and before 2200 rpms the whole 300hp was in.

Nice slip!
Closed course. Professional rider. Do not attempt.

Still privately owned and operated by Hayabusa owner enthusiasts. 2002, small  a/a kit, CF body

If it's in a truck or trailer, it's being stolen

I have a brand new, VERY nice 496".

Since the Grand Sport engine is hurt, I ordered a brand new LS3 and twin 62s for it. Were gonna start that project within a few weeks.
They are telling me 800 on pump gas and over 1,000 on E85. I can see me going back to the mile, lolol.

Yeah, I still have this ole jalopy...
Pic from last weekend

The bodywork is a little worse for wear after 17.5 years of abuse but...she's still running.  I'm trying to source out new oem 2000 body work now.

I sold my trusty '01 GSXR1000 back in 13' and bought a new BMW S1000RR, then got bored with bikes all together after a couple years.  I had a 5 year odyesse with a 900rwhp C5Z which I finally got out from under and picked up a new C7Z to cruise in.  Still playing with my 71' BB vette also.  Trying to get my interest back in bikes at the moment.

As for here, I pop in and lurk every now and then, but the whole place seems dead. That's pretty much common on all of the forums now, dying a slow death from FB.

I sure miss our hey day here from '04-07.  Those were great times here and kept me ate up with hayabusas and bikes in general. I guess time moves on. :frown:

I hope everyone is still doing well...especially the OGs.. :D

16 years for me and you Dawg.

;)

Longer then that broseph... you had the 98' ZX11 when we met, you didn't even have a busa yet.  That was in 2000 sometime... so for 17 years you've had the pleasure of knowing me.  :D

Man those early days of the busa circa 2000 on up until 04 when I did the first turbo setup, those days were a fuckin blast.  The excitement of these new monsters on the street and modding them, so much fun.  I haven't really felt like that since with any of the other toys.

Remember TECH, Grecco, Busaforhire, LoftyAbuse, BirdofPrey, ScaryJerry, Shamrock(Rob Kelly)...  lots of good OGs from back then.

Awesome to hear he is still doing well and you still have your old turbo bike as well.  Our old junk are classics now.. it's funny when I pop the hump off and people see the 10 boxes I have mounted in there, everyone is like "wtf is all that shit?".... that's the shit we used to put on these ole dinosaurs to haul ass back 12-13 years ago..lol

Every time I get on mine, after just a few minutes I always ask myself, "why don't I ride this thing more?"...

Well I'm gonna start to gawt dammit.

Good to see you back !

Here is what's inside an LS engine guys so you know how to prevent disasters and have some fun.  Hopefully this helps you guys, I work on them every week.

The platform is ok, but any part from Gm is garbage including the blocks. What I hate is that you have to pull the heads to gain access to the lifters, on the trucks with cylinder shut down, the lifters fail and it's a job to gain access when they could have left room in the head. The other problem is non adjustable valve train. The good news is they respond to a valve job better then anything else due to the valves being so crooked! You can't believe how good they run when the valves seal up!

Best advice, if you're going to build more then 10 % more then factory output, if you can afford it, get an aftermarket DART block or equivalent. We are seeing puked out LS Corvette stuff all the damn time along with Camaro and now trucks and everything else due to the one bolt oil-pickup tube used when they should have used two!  There is provision for two but by only using one, it makes the engine a ticking time bomb!
The windowed out blocks WILL twist eventually with boost and make the mains come out of alignment. One customer had it happen twice on two new blocks he bought from Gm.
He brought me the third block and wanted it to work so I decked and bored, believe it or not the stock bores are out of round, and the decks were off from end to end and side to side!
We mocked it up putting a piston in each corner and all four were off differently in relation to deck!
I can't believe how bad their machining and finishing processes are!
End of story, I told him no warranty if boosted and he decided to remove the supercharger and use it naturally aspirated which after mostly aftermarket parts it SHOULD hang together awhile...

The bottom pic is how they decided to window all the blocks including the Z06 blocks on the high output LS stuff used in Vettes and Camaros, but choose not to on the trucks with aluminum.
From the top down, the valve springs break, there isn't a straight valve in one, the lifters fail takes out the cam, the cam bearings spin, timing chains break due to heavier valve springs especially if you modify!! The pistons rattle, the bottom end fails due to o-ring failure.
Other then that they are fine if you don't use them haha!

Good news is we are busy as hell keepin up with this all and it's all a secret so shhhhh!!! :thumb:
Just a heads up nothing more have fun!

Current state of mine...

The body is off to paint for a well deserved resto... we'll be trying to duplicate the 00' blue/silver paint and graphics as close as we can.  Having to do a lot of custom stuff to get the graphics right..

Thanks for the advice, I knew about most of this stuff,  The 05-07 LQ4/LQ9(stronger rods, coating on pistons)  are the best from the factory,  they hold more hp than the aluminum ones, and are only about 75 pounds more, and can be purchased cheap I bought a 2005 2500 HD with 60k miles damage (truck bed and tailgate )pulling a trailer.  $2000  I parted it out and made $5K, and put the motor in my Chevelle,  I plan on changing  rockers, timing chain, spings, cam 560 or less and about 600hp boosted stock bore.

I was surprised to see the aluminum blocks out of the newer Yukon was a solid well built no windowing block. Looked much nicer then the ones we see out of the Vettes. Didn't make much sense to me, since the output is much lower.. I don't understand a lot of things Gm does these days.
The Iron blocks seem pretty decent, heavy but strong.

Hey I know it's a rumor but are the next Gen Vettes coming out with overhead cam engines? I had a customer tell me that the other day
