WOW!!!!

I have been thinking about time to do a frame off powder/paint session also
now I think you have decided it for me. I think I will do it this winter

Yeah I have wanted to do it for a few years...my original paint was pretty beat up, my swingarm powder coating was cracking, my forks were chipped all up and my wheels looked like ass.  It was time for a full cosmetic resto...  I kind of wanted to pull the motor and really clean everything up there, as well as change shift forks but.....I'll save that for later.

This thing still runs great so....I'm just gonna ride it for now.  I'm kind of wanting to go to Co2 for the boost controller, that may be my next project.

Yeah I need to research how to do it all... I'm wondering if I can just T into my Co2 line from my 9 oz air shifter bottle, then add a regulator to step it down?  I haven't researched it much...at least not in the last 6-7 years...LOL

I just ride around on a 1 bar spring and its hella fun....Spools REALLY quick, even at 30-40% throttle it will jump up to 14 psi QUICK>.... super fun... However, roll racing is big down here and I can't do SHIT with it like this... Except for maybe 3rd gear, 80 mph rolls...and then it still wheelies..LOL.

I think I want to go back to my 10lb spring (which makes about 9 psi)....and add Co2 to help it spool faster, let the AMS do the work.  I wish I could get the GPS mode to work consistently on the AMS but....I know its impossible, especially on 2000 busa electronics...

I also want to wire up the "Scramble" button so I can tap into the boost when I need some extra...I've been putting this shit off for YEARS...

Hell my AMS is not even being used right now for control, only a boost gauge...

I just love how that big spring spools on the street...

As for the resto, I was actually going to buy all new 00' plastics from Ron Ayers or Bike Bandit etc...but they are no longer available in blue/silver from Suzuki, so I had to have them painted...and since I was painting them, I figured I'd "spice" it up a bit.

every one says AMS don't work in GPS
the ONLY issue I currently have with mine is
when passing thru 1-2 shift I MOMENTARILY get 6th gear only while the neutral light is on.
foot shifting I am off the throttle so who cares
Air shifting I have not seen the light

Co2 I regulated with a "palmer pursuit" regulator at 100 PSI to my swingarm
then 1/4 plastic lint to a air regulator down to 30 PSI for the AMS
scramble button I put on a 07 LH control with push to pass

Good idea on the 07 Push to Pass button!  I may have to do that myself.... :smoking:

The only thing is, my 00 uses the Fast Idle level which I'm sure won't work on the 07' control assembly...  I'll have to look into this...

Thanks for the idea tho...

On the Co2, I was thinking about getting the 60 psi reg that NLR sells, and just T into my air shifter line that is already regulated down to 125 psi out of the bottle...

Basically just add a T, install the regulator inline, then run it to the increase noid....

I just wonder how fast it will suck down a 9 oz bottle running the AMS and air shifter off of it......although its not like a ride it much anyway.

fast idle works fine

how long it lasts depends on how much shifting boosting you do
and how air tight your system is

Thanks Flipper...

Yeah I always said if I redid it, I wanted to make it pop a little more.   Originally I was going to paint it using the 2002 Blue from the blue/black busa that year, but the painter talked me into the Kobalt candy, I'm glad we went with it.   I wanted a good replication of the oem 00' paint scheme, but something to stand out a bit more.  I think we nailed it.  I'm afraid to ride it now...(rock chips)

What's up Josh?

Yeah I bought some Xpel film I'm going to attempt to install on the front fender and lower fairings behind the tire.  Hopefully I can make it look ok.  I'm not gonna live in paranoia about rock chips, but will try to save the main strike zones.

Been pretty busy this year and trying to stay positive.  In-laws had some medical issues (cancer/heart attack, etc) and I was given the opportunity to move close for work so we jumped on it and are now in Ohio.  Been traveling out of state 4-months of the last 9 so it's been fun.  Always thought we wanted to be closer and move back home but wife isn't real thrilled with work (my schedule or hers), schools, etc, and the kids miss Texas of course..lol  Not to mention they want almost double the price for my same house in TX here so who knows what our future holds when it's all done.  I've lost more than a few friends during this entire process (RIP) so kind of lost interest in a lot of stuff.  It's been weird lately I guess.  Trying to keep pressing and take care of business.  I've been wanting to get my bike up to Richard for a few updates, just don't have the time right now and wonder if it's worth another $10k+ to do what I want?!  Maybe seeing a few others tinkering will get me interested and motivated again to find a weekend to get it out, serviced, licensed, and going! :thumb:

Hope all you guys are doing well and having fun!   :tu:

Chris- nice retirement home you are building!  I've been following along with your photos and it looks amazing.

Damn man, sounds like you have had your plate full for sure.  Seems crazy to me that housing would be that much more expensive in freakin Ohio  :smashfreak:  Hopefully everything will settle down for you and the family can settle in and be comfortable again.

I hear ya on the upgrades.  I've thought about the Ultra Plenum/exchanger swap, just so I can make a little more power on pump gas but....for no more then what I ride it, and even less so race it, I can't justify the cost.  Plus that's Ultra stuff is insane expensive....

As for interest in the hobby, we'll I kind of lost interest in bikes in the 10'-13' range, then I got a wild hair to buy an s1000RR in Aug 13' and I was hot to trot on bikes for about a year, then lost interest again.

So a buddy of mine was really wanting to get his first bike, he took MSF and got his license.  We then found him a virgin 2005 GSXR1000 with 1400 original miles on it in Austin.  I took him to get this pristine stock bike, and just seeing his excitement and enthusiasm for beginning in the sportbikes hobby/lifestyle really sparked an interest in me, kind of like getting back to the basics and reliving that passion over again.  During this time, I started feeling nostalgic about my busa and planned the resto..

Now I'm trying to resist the urge to buy some vintage sport bikes I've always wanted... (98' TLR, 98-99 SRAD 750, and a few others..)

My C5Z build really derailed my bike passion but....I feel it coming back hard.  I've been working out/dieting, bought new gear and setting up group rides again.

I can't wait to take the busa out on its maiden voyage.

It's beyond crazy!  Not only have prices around Columbus gone up 20-40% in the last year and a half but people are waiving appraisals AND inspections.  They go in offering $10k+ over asking price just to be considered.  I will never do that garbage for any house, nope.  I feel like we are another market headed in the wrong direction up here.  I hate not having our own place again but at least we're in a good place to save some cash.

Same here on bike cost.  The ECUeditor boost controller is complete junk for what I'm trying to do.  I want to get setup with an AMS2K.  The last few races the bike kept jumping out of gear so I need to go through the transmission and get that sorted.  Figured while it's apart I'd think about upgrading but do I need a 600whp+ streetbike?  I don't hardly use the 400+ I have now but whatever.  :D  I still want to run 250+ in 1-mile and maybe 220+ in the 1/2.  :fro:

Then I think something new might come out that interests me but short of another Busa I just don't see it.  Looked at the H2's for a bit and with the cost I'd be taking a step backwards in performance.  Not to mention by the time you buy one and add mods you're in for $30k only to go slower.  I'm better off keeping what I have.  Been looking at some dirt-bikes for my girls so who knows.
