I have only used Bridgestone R10 and R11 Dot race tires. My first trip to Bonneville was in 2011 where I used R10 tires, medium front and hard rear. After my record run of 220 mph there was some chunking of the rear tire. Somewhere I had read that the tires were chunking due to "cold shearing". It makes sense to me because at Bonneville the tires never really get warmed up. Since that trip in 2011, I have used tire warmers to heat cycle new tires three times each and have never had another problem. I'm not a "tire engineer" or a "scientist" but I believe the heat cycling helps align the tire's molecular structure. I have gone 224 at Wilmington and 225 at Loring with zero problems.
