Congratulations to Voxan on there speeds,
But i do have some questions on there FIM compliance if that is what there claiming on both the naked bike and the APS,
Naked for us does not include a sloped windscreen
and the APS bike around the front wheel looks to be different to the regs we run also
and then usually a record is not publicly claimed until ratification
They are getting very close to Eva's streamliner speeds , no small effort

Agree with Gregs comments above, also the tail section height appears to be questionable, the FIM rules state that it can be no higher than 150mm above the hard base of the seat, and in the naked class no more than 25mm below the hard base of the seat,,

The electric naked bikes appear to have a natural aero advantage with their slab sided motor units,,

I have been reading things on the web about this event.

The articles all seem to be VERY close to "press releases,"
and (whether deliberately or not) seem to be
very light on the sort of details we like to see.

Yes, this is supposed to be FIM stuff,
but it doesn't all make sense.

1)  One could easily believe that the pictures
we are seeing are mostly promotional stuff that
may not have been the actual race bikes.

2)  the 254mph is within reason, but as an "exit speed,"
not a final kilo or even a final 1/4 mile.

3)  The bike appears ( there's that question of what
we are actually seeing again) to not have front brakes.

4) There are several of us here who have ridden bikes
at about those speeds, but it is hard to imaging going
through the ligths at 254, and being able to stop
comfortably in only 1.17 miles - with no room for error

FIM in their rules stipulate that any pending record has to be accompanied with the wording "Subject to FIM Ratification",, in "all" articles that I have read to date,(even the writeup on the FIM website), this wording is not included

On Google Earth the Chateauroux Airfield tarmac measures at approx. 2.4 miles,, place the timed mile in the centre and that gives approx. 3/4 of a mile to stop in  :o

Max Biaggi, Roman Emperor and oft-thought rival to Valentino Rossi,
also of Italy, has established a electric 2-wheel speed record over 283mph
at the Space Shuttle landing strip at Cape Kennedy Space Center this week.

The info on the  283.182 mph Biaggi speed is
up on the FIM web site.

That would be good for 5th place on this list.

This officially makes Biaggi considerably FASTER
than Rossi on lists of official top speeds.

Fastest 1mile should  be listed 296, I see another person listed twice!! It is a category left out and should be recognised.  I mean show the guy some respect.

Fixed

Available power seems to be less of a limitation these days, regardless of type of motorsport.  Anyone can buy just about whatever they want if you can write a big enough check.  I think power and traction management are where the challenges lie and things keep getting better and better.  It really is amazing though.
