Good luck to Greg and Kim this week and all the others down under.
Wishing you smooth hard dry salt.
Have a Harley, spent lots of money on it, thought I had a fast motorcycle, bought a Busa, realized all I had was a fast Harley, not a fast motorcycle!

How did everyone do?   I know communications are weak out there, hoping everyone had a good week.

The weather Gods were not kind this year,, the first cuppla days temperatures at 120f, then a electrical storm fried the timers, a little rain, then cold nights, the Australian Outback is a land of extremes,,

To add to the challenge a slippery track and 13-18mph cross winds,,

Eva Hakenksen(spelling) went 236+mph in her electric streamliner sidecar,,

"Most" of the high horsepower bikes made one pass then elected to sit it out, hopefully waiting for conditions to improve,, my (Ronnie Stayt) Turboed 1350,ZX12 was fastest siton at 215+mph, Kim Krebs on Black Arts Turboed 750 Suzuki was next at 214+mph, Greg Watters could only manage a 180mph in the conditions, Richard Assen went 197mph,, :D  8)

Heck,Dean, she was probably mad at how slow she was! She has been 239+ on the 750! Conditions prevailed----

Jim, she was mad at herself for not turning on the data logger in a previous run lol,,

All the high horsepower bikes didn't run to their potential,, it was a battle to build speed on a wettish slippery track, thay move around on good salt, even more on not so good salt,, I was timed at 215 at the 3, data shows 230'ish at 3.5, then hit a (13-18mph) crosswind which immediately moved the bike about two feet left, time to get out of it,, all riders had similar stories to tell  :vl:

Heres a photo of my bike  :D

Nice! I always liked the ZX12, especially in green.

Jim, it blows me away that you folks have the 750s going so fast, do you have a pic of that bike when it went 239?  Still an amazing job for Kim to go 214 in poor conditions.

I hope to have the ZX10 tuned and ready for May, hope to see you there :)

239 bike was mostly lost in the fires, swingarm was all we saved
i think the 214 here would equate to into the high 220's or low 230's at Bonneville and the current bike could bump the FIM record
Salt was funny, we had come from a few days of 120f temps and then a cold change seemed to bring the water up , felt dryish , nothing sticking to the truck but the bikes came back dripping if they had wheelspin
Kims return run a hour or so later was less comfortable at 211

Busa was still not liking the bigger bodywork, in the short time we had i did a shakedown and 2 runs with different tails, both gave trouble at the same speed , Tried vortex generators to keep the air attached but it only gave a 50 mph improvement from last year
Time to start again on the front bodywork and make it connect to the rear better , just getting too much loss of laminar flow at the rider

Dean the ZX looks very slick , wish i could make the may meet too ;)

Some more photos,, Bones went 199 on his A/G 1650,, Russell Lowe debut his LS1 (crate motor) V8 at 181mph,, Sam Petersen ran 204 in 1350 P/P class a cuppla years back, she fronted with a turbo now on her bike,, first time she has ever ridden turbos saw explority/cautious passes at 191, watch this space  :D 8)

Thanks for the reports and pics gents. Tuning custom bodywork for real world riding is sobering stuff.

I wonder if anyone has considered a standing mile asphalt event in Oz?  A year between test sessions is a long time.
