Last weekend we had our first proper meeting for the year with a twist,it was a standing start half mile as against our normal mile course on the same runway at Elvington plus we had the following Tuesday practice day brought forward to Monday so 3 days racing.
Being the first of a new series of events there was a bit of discussion on gearing etc. for the half but the results had Steve Bland running a 236.17 mph backed up with a 235 mph and a 230 mph the fastest we believe is a new world record for the Half Mile.
Jack Frost running a 230.27 mph Guy Martin 223.87 mph Phil Wood 222.67 mph Becci Ellis 210.22 mph.Me ZX12 turbo at 205.54 mph and Chris Hodgson 201.22 mph were all the riders over 200mph in the half, all turbo Busas except me.
There was a bit of mechanical attrition after the weekend that reduced the mile entries by a few but Jack Frost on a turbo busa was fastest at 232.45 mph followed by Jay Coddington GSXR 1000 turbo 231.14 mph Me Zx12 turbo at 230.60 mph Becci Ellis 230.45 mph Martin Stanton GSXR 1000 turbo 228.97 mph Dazz Rose busa turbo 216.38 mph James Devlin 216.11 mph Beverley Burrows ZX12 turbo 214.898 mph John Willis GSXR 1000 turbo 214.864 Terry Smith 1587 Busa n/a 205.987
These were all the riders over 200 mph on the day standing start measured mile.
I have not reported much from last year because I did not race at any events other than in a car but I will try and bring the Uk results up to date but one I do know of was Steve Bland raised his PB to 262.237 mph. I am sure there are more so i will check
