I kind of like Virginia Motorsports Park
« on: June 04, 2019, 12:02:45 PM »
I think I like VMP, and VMP likes me too...

Got our first Prostreet event Win against Rodney Williford this past weekend with Jordan Haase riding, and ran a personal best while doing it. Last August we also met up in the finals, but the results were different this time with Jordan taking the win after Rodney had an issue at the 3-4 shift. We were on a great pass, basically side by side with the slight edge to Jordan at the 330 before Rodney dropped off.

Pretty cool to win on the big stage along with a smooth personal best pass.

Have a Harley, spent lots of money on it, thought I had a fast motorcycle, bought a Busa, realized all I had was a fast Harley, not a fast motorcycle!

I was really only shooting for a 6.84-6.85 to get it in the field ...that's why the 60 and 330 were soft. I told him if it felt good grab the override button and hang on...it felt good I guess  :fro:

from what I've seen on video these passes look very smooth, nothing at all like you would expect from just a few years ago. Power application seems to be consistent throughout the run, with the clutch set up contributing to a smooth drama free run. At least that's how it looks to me.

Unreal #'s...congrats!!!!

Well...that is the plan...smooth is usually fast. That said, sometimes we hike the front and jump the whole bike off of the ground in the first 100 ft too  :whip:

I've seen that too. What's the primary causes when the bikes do that? It's usually very violent.

I would guess the track is better than anticipated and the clutch set up is just a tad too aggressive. Maybe that along with a bit too many psi at launch?

Curious as to what the reasons really are.

With the stiff competition, we pretty much have to try to run very close to our best pass nearly every time we line up. Many folks seem to think the bikes basically ride themselves, however that is far from the case.
We are literally trying to get a 650+ hp bike that weighs 675-700lbs total down the track.

Toes get worn off of boots, fairings sometimes scrape the ground at 200mph from leaning to try to drive the bikes, we miss the tuneup, etc. They really are on the edge pretty much every pass from start to finish.

This wasn't at VMP, rather the last XDA race of the season at MDIR. Bumped up the personal best to a 4.39 1/8 and 6.61 1/4.

This puts Jordan Haase at #8 overall for ET and his 228mph best is #4 overall. We have the top 3 Hayabusas for both speed and ET ;-)

Just to give an idea, the boost used to run the 4.39 / 6.61 pass posted above at the top of each gear was:

2nd: 25psi
3rd: 31psi
4th: 36-37psi
5th: 38-39psi

This pass didn't have "big" speed up top for a different reason, wasn't because of the amount of boost applied.

;-)

The boost isn't really controlled by gear, rather time. Those values were just the max in each gear (actually not even the max as there is some spiking between gears).

Try this at home folks, it's fun :-)
