Help with a 2003 engine swap into a 2000
« on: October 11, 2021, 09:45:14 PM »
Need some feedback so I cam make sure I get this right.
I have a 2000 Hayabusa with really bad knock in the engine. I purchased a  complete 2003 engine that I want to swap into my 2000.
Can I plug the 2003 engine into my 2000 and it work without any problems? Or are there some changes I need to make in order for the swap to work?

Did you get the ECU? Has the knock been diagnosed? They all sound like a box of rocks :D
Closed course. Professional rider. Do not attempt.

Still privately owned and operated by Hayabusa owner enthusiasts. 2002, small  a/a kit, CF body

If it's in a truck or trailer, it's being stolen

Yes I have the ECU. The knock sounds like a spun bearing

Plug it in and run it
Some say the polarity on the crack trigger is different, I have swapped mine back and forth with no noticeable difference

Thanks

Do I need to  put 2000 rotor/flywheel in the 03 engine? No need to swap ecu, harness or anything else?

If you are going to use the 2000 16bit ecu you swap the crank trigger
from the Old motor to the new one

If you want to use the 32 bit newer ECU you will not swap the 24-1 trigger from the "newer" motor leave it in and swap the ECU

You will need to swap some pins AND use the throttle bodies (because of the TPS) from the 2000.

The pins that need moved are as follows:
Pin 36 and Pin 43 get swapped
Pin 60 moves to 53 which is empty
Pin 56 moves to 33 which is empty
The empty holes have a little white plug in them:
Fastest 1.5-Mile Pass - 252.222
Fastest 1-Mile Pass - 244.2997
Half Mile - 211.47
Fastest Nitrous Bike
Production Bike
