Where do y'all get PhotoShop?

Or more importantly, how much? I looked at Adobe's website, and they want $600!!    

That's way more than my digital cam cost, and more than a lot of new PCs... WTF???

Then I get some spam today "Adobe Photoshop 7, full version, new #39.95"

So what gives? What does one need to enter the photoshop combat zone, and how much should one pay?

That's the going price- you can buy it at several places.

If you are not into full blown image editing/creating, or are just starting out, or don't want to spend the money; get "Photoshop Elements".  It does a lot and is <$90 IIRC.

I've heard those are the real version but they're bootlegged. Don't ever register it if you buy one that way.

i believe you need to download something to change the chinese to english, but it will ask if you dont already have it. its a strange site,kinda slow but i had a friend download photoshop from it a while back and you can get the crack codes for it also from the site. hope this helps

That works for me. All I wanna do is just the basic stuff? Any compelling reason why I'd want/need a newer version?

just added features/tools, added layer support etc...just things advanced users would use anyways. 5.5 comes with Image Ready, thats what I use to optimize for web and animated gifs...you may be able to find a PS 5.5 "classroom in a book" by Adobe Press' at the library, good book for learning 5.5. PM me an addy I can send it too, and what he said, dont register it...
