Started Polishing Frame, got bored in the winter
« on: December 29, 2002, 04:55:00 PM »
Been so bored lately, I just graduated from U of M and dont start my new job until January 6th, so I took the busa apart and started polishing.  This is my first attempt at polishing, it still needs some work, but looks a lot more bling blingie than stock.

I ordered chrome hipoing 02-2's, they are on the way.  Going to polish the frame, stator & clutch covers, foot peg brackets, triple tree clamp, ordered polished reservoir caps, going to order alum. bar ends.  Well, here at the pics.

The website for the wheels is
www.hipointme.com

Both Charles at Street and Track and Joe at A&J can get you the wheels for around 1500-1600 in chrome.  I ordered the 02-2's in chrome, its going to be the end of January before they are availble.  They are manufactured in Japan, then sent here.

For a winter project, I'm thinking of polishing my Busa too, but I don't know where to start.  What materials do you need to polish the frame and other parts?
What were you thinking?!?!? You can't catch me!

For a detailed write up with list of needed materials and step-by-step instructions,
go to my web page  and then to the "POLISH 101" Link on the left side of the page.

I took it from a past post by RHYTHM, it's all there in complete detail.

the left side I had only hit with the black rouge, today I hit it with the brown and the white, it looks much better now, I still have some very light scratches in one particular spot, even tried resanding, must be the way I am sanding this curve, rebuffed and they are still there.  Oh well, got all winter to make it look good.

Anyone know what it would cost to have the foot peg brackets chromed?  Thanks

Polishing was the worst thing I ever did. You have to constantly use the polish on it or it oxidizes. I will never do it again. I do a quick clean and then ride. No one can see it at 200mph anyway.

I agree...money wise you can save lots of loot $$$. But maintenance wise it will just frustrate you. I had a ZX-7 completely polished and i told myself i would never do it again. With the Busa being the last bike i will ever buy I just spent the money and went all out with the chrome, it's much easier with Windex & Papertowels.
