The only thing I haven't blacked out is the exhaust pipe and the forks.  I'll get to the forks eventually.

That looks good.
What foot pegs did you use (did they come in black)?
Did you powdercoat the parts or paint them?
I have an 02SE also and I was considering doing that too.

Footpegs are stock.  everything is powder coated in gloss black.  local guy did an excellent job ($200). I did all the dissassembly myself.  Took about 4 hours to get apart and the same to put it back together. Here's a list of things I had powdercoated:

- Passenger footpegs
- Rider footpegs
- Rear brake and shifter levers and linkages
- Bar ends (throttlemeister)
- Front brake and clutch lever assemblies
- Arm that holds rear brake caliper
- Grab bar
- Muffler clamp
- All body hardware including fairing screws, frankenstein bolts, large screws for rider footpegs, washers, etc.  Did not do bolts on engine covers and frame/engine bolts, or the ram air intake screens.

The rider footpeg brackets were a bit of a pain because there are grommets that need to be pressed out 'cause they have rubber in them (curing oven used for powdercoating is to hot).  They are in very tight and probably will not survive the removal process so go ahead and get 6 new ones from Suzuki (3 per bracket) before hand so you don't have to wait on them.

Also, the front brake and clutch lever assemblies have to be broken down into individual parts and powder coated seperately.  because powdercoating is thicker than paint, its kinda hard to read the numbers on the lever adjustment knobs.  There is a brass pin that holds each assembly together that has to be pressed out (much easier than the footpeg grommets).  One thing to be very careful of when disassembling the lever adjustment knobs... under the knobs is a spring that keeps tension on the knob by pushing up on it.  At the end of the spring is a very small ball bearing that the knob actually "rides" on.  Be VERY careful not to loose this ball bearing when taking the assembly apart.  Suzuki wont sell you just the bearing, only the whole assembly.  Also, after the individual lever assembly parts are powder coated, you'll have to file the powder coating off the areas where they fit back together because the clearances are fairly tight.  I used a dremel and it was no big deal.  Just take your time and if you do it right, you can't even see the filed areas when the assembly is back together.

The actual footpegs themselves couldn't be powder coated 'cause I didn't see any way to get the rubber off the peg without fargin' it up.  I just hit them with a little gloss black paint and will touch 'em up as needed.

What I like about doing the hardware is more what you DON'T see.  I think it looks much "cleaner".  Just keep track of where everything came from so you don't run into a "oh shit.. where did this go?!?"

The windscreen is a ZG double bubble.  The headlight cover is from Pyramid Plastics in the UK.  Charles at street n track can get one for ya.  They take a while though.  I did upgrade my bulbs to Sylvania Silversteak bulbs.  they're about 4,000 Kelvin and penetrate the cover better.  But they are about $20 each.

I did this over a year ago, but just now was able to post pics of it.  The powdercoating is great.  It looks almost as good as the fairings, and it holds up VERY well.  If it scratches, you just polish it out just like paint (but it takes a little longer).  Shine comes right back.

I know there have been a few people with '02 SE's and 40th anniversary that have asked about this.  I hope this helps you decide if you like it or not and what to look out for going in.  I'm very happy with the way it turned out.  Was a bit of effort but well worth it IMO.

I don't think I would do the tail light, and I'm still undecided about the front turn signals, but after lookin' at yours I kinda like those.  I have mine rigged up as running lights too.  Is that a film that goes over the stock lens or a replacement lens?

Gatoracer,
And Dennis thought HIS bike was black!!  You showed him what's what.  Great job!  It's a little known secret, but the black ones are just a teeny bit faster....something about 'em.  Just a little slicker in the air, I think.

Thanks Dave!  I think Dennis has the '03 black/gold forks on his which loods REALLY sharp.  I'm gonna have to consider that when I go with a stiffer spring, which will have to been soon.  I don't know how the big guys ride with stock fork springs...      A few people have suggested doing something with the exhaust, but I kinda like it.

i guess the yellow is the blinkers?if you want to tint the rear turn signals .there is some spray on tint called mid-night shades that works well.but if you put it on to thick it turns the lights red when they blink.we did a buddy's ZX11 and it looked trick
