short stacks, long stacks, what stacks?
« on: July 16, 2003, 09:35:00 PM »
Ok, bikes down in the shop getting yosh cams installed. Also the airbox mod is being done, I told the guy I wanted velocity's long stacks as I thought that would give me more peak hp and less torque. Now Im hearing its the short stacks that accomplish that. What are the traits of all three stacks short, long and medium?

Hopefully if I get this info in time I can tell him to order the appropriate stacks while my head is still in the machine shop getting cleanedd up.

in a nutshell, long usually peaks toque lower down, short will see peak toque move up the rpm, you need both, that is why Suzuki provide long and short to give best spread of power, most people go for all short, try it on the dyno and see what you like?

You want all stacks to be short. Also, If there are only 3 you better call Suzuki and tell them your missing one because all bikes come with 4. One per throttlebody.

Not true!
Try 1397, yosh cams, ported head , full box, akra, and short stacks. That will beat that package!

I have done quite a few test with Mikuni aluminium stacks but have gotten back to the orginal rubber short ones.
I have however enlarged them with a porting tool ( a BITCH to do ) and maked the "end" more round..

The Mikuni gave a little more hp ( 1-2 ) but I like the fit of the orginal ones...
I dont know what I am talking about but I do know that I am right :)
