Wave washer on cam chain guide...

We have two motors torn down in the shop right now and one is a 2000 and it has a wave washer that fits between the head of the gold colored bolt that holds the rear cam chain guide. the other is an 01 and it doesn't have the wave washer there. Checking wuth the suzuki dealer they don't show it having a wave washer at all. I'm assuming that it's ok to run without it but am not sure. Does anyone know if Suzuki changed this during production? I only know of two other wave washers in the motor and they are both in the starter set-up. is that correct as well? I didn't pull down the 00 but The wave washer was on that bolt and it fit perfectly.

what you describe is correct
if i am not mistaken, the early (non-recall) rear guide (metal with a rubber coating of some sort) used the wave washer under that gold bolt you described

the 2001 and any that had the recall guide put in would only have the bolt

the old stiff metal rear guide has a counterbore relief machined into it for the wave wahser to sit

you mean on the 01 right?
already replaced it MOTORHEAD.
