Just take the normally open contact on the relay that is not hot untill you push the start button, and make a series connection with your 2nd battery. +12v from relay with button pushed to -12v of 2nd battery then +12v of 2nd battery to starter.

Or...

Just take the wire connected to the starter and connect to the (-) side of the second battery. Then connect the (+) of the second battery to the starter. You will need to trickle charge the second battery periodically b/c it is not wired into the charging system.

No it will not charge the 2nd battery. His post is exactly the same as mine. Mine just more detailed in an attemp to show isolation from 12v system. Both are describing simple series connections.

Yeah what BUSAONCRACK said. The second battery will not drain the original and it will not "get" charged as the motor is running.

The battery I use is from Auto Zone. Look in the motorcycle battery section and find the smallest 12V battery you can find (open the box to see actual size). The one I use is about 5" long, 3.5" tall and 2.5" wide. Make sure you mount so you can access with a charger or run a plug to it...
