What's it cost?
Red/gray turbo 1397 Busa for the track.
Black stock ZX14 for the street

When people ask about the 14, I always enjoy telling them that it's my slow  bike.

Its to get rid of tool marks, mister i don't know anything. Well his program is getting better, i have one of his latest in my garage, at 1st they looked like they were ported by a garbage disposal, but must say look a hell of alot better.

Alot of CNC's leave the tooling marks, just take a sand roll to it.  Doesnt matter much, but they have different tooling for the CNCs now which Bob doesnt have or just isnt using, which doesnt leave those marks.  But just like any race part, often modification is necessary before install.  Hell, ask the poster, Speed King....who installs pistons before deburring them, not me

As far as tooling marks are concerned, it has been my understanding that you want a bit of roughness in there on the intake side to help atomize the mixture as it passes. Correct? Or is that just for old-timey carb stuff?

Correct. A mirror surface will cause fuel to slick out of suspension and run down the walls. I bet its even more of a problem with injectors than carbs.

A smooth finish is desireable because it eliminates any build up in the intake, intake turns are what cause pooling of the fuel, and 90% of the atomization takes place in the cylinder by the squish bands and temps ect. The intake walls dont hurt to be rough for airflow because their is a boundry layer thats formed thats a few thousands of and inch thick. So smooth is best. This comes from 40yrs of airflow research and not BS. And no , I didnt do the research.

I would agree that intake ports should be smooth, or a dull gray, to facilitate the formation of boundary layers that helps with both turbulence and puddling. The surfaces should not be polished.

Rob Bush , did You measure flow at 10 inches of
water? Also how much did the exhaust ports flow?
Did You use some kind of bellmouth or similar
on the port inlet or outlet when on the
flowbench?
