what 5mm of stroke and a stock bore 1429?

I thought the 85mm pistons (stock stroke) had some issues with overheating more so that a even a 1397. I was also told by someone who runs one it is very hard to get back to back runs to be consistant due to the thin cylinder walls of a 1429cc

If you run it hard on the street (top end stuff)
I would stay away from 85mm w/stock jug,I was told they hold up & thousands of dollars & a shit load of time later 1397 for me....

I think the problem is the 120thou. between cylinders two thin on 85mm..for topend stuff although this was the first & the last one I did
so it's either defect in coating process or walls distorting enough for plating to come off..I wasnt willing to go 85 again & risk it..84 now...I imagine 1/4 mile at a time 85 may hold up but if you spend much time close to the limiter in 6th I wouldnt recommend it....

Can someone tell me if this is possible to put a 5mm stroker crank on a stock piston busa. Has anyone tried this setup yet

Yes, it gives you a 1429 and yes it's very easy to keep together, get the high volume oil pump from motorhead

Would this mean you keep the stock rods as well as pistons or do you go get aftermarket like Carillo or some other brand???????

It would be smart to use aftermarket pistons and rods

Go with the Carrillo's.

The Carrillo rod is stronger than stock. Will not stretch. While I have not measured a shit load of Carrillo's I would be surprised to here someone finding a spread of .004 on big end sizes like someone did in another post.

The Carrillo rods is also approximately 45 grams lighter than the stock rod.
I've yet to see a decent JE piston.  All the ones that have come through my door are big heavy clunky items.

The hole in the block is from the combustion leaking past the head gasket.

There could be a couple of reasons causing the problem, but basically the bottom line is don't use that big of a bore with the stock block.

Yea,,,84mm is enough to keep cool with a decent compression, a 1429 stroker would let you have the cooling capibility of a stock block with the displacment of o large big bore, Use a 12.8cr JE piston with a 2.5mm spacer under the cylinder, APE welded stroker, Have a good shop put it together for you (if your in the ohio area Motorhead performance is a good one) megacycle 410/385 cams should work good with this combo, and will also work well down the road if you deciede to 84mm on the bore (1507cc) good luck with your project

Longer stroke will mean higher piston speeds for same revs, unless you're prepared to drop your rev-ceiling a bit, it wouldn't be smart to run strokers with stock reciprocating parts.
I'm the meatsafe murderer only I never done it.
